Ok this might sound stupid but today I saw a mid '60's plymouth fury III with a neat engine under the hood. On the valve cover it said "426 Ramcharger". I heard that the engine was most likely a 426 Max Wedge and that the "Ramcharger" was an engine option.

I also heard that in Plymouths it was called the Super Stock 426 and in Dodges it was called the Ramcharger. So this engine was from a dodge but put into a plymouth?

I guess they put on the wrong equipment. The engines themselves were the same but with different badging. As you mentioned, the "Ramcharger" was Dodge's name for the 426 Max Wedge.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Not saying it couldn't have happened but, I doubt a Max Wedge(AKA Ramcharger would find it's way in a C body Fury III from the factory. The earlier Fury's had them...in fact my dad's friend ordered out a brand new 1963 Fury 4 door with a 426 Max Wedge and pushbutton automatic. They were all done by 1964 I believe as the Hemi took over.

Did it have the offset dual 4bbl's...it could have just been a Street Wedge with the stickers added.

I wasn't saying it was from the factory. I just saw it in under the hood and thus snapped a picture of it. What what I read though the Max Wedge, Super Stock, and the Ramcharger were all identical engines just with different names.

Sorry I read your post wrong.

Yeah, they were the same just like a 440 Magnum(Dodge) and 440 Super Commando(Plymouth) and 440 TNT(Chrysler)

1963 ~ 415 - 425 bhp
1964 ~ 365 bhp

Quite a drop in one year but that is still some seriouslly good horsepower!

The 365HP was the street wedge. That one did not have Max Wedge heads and it only had a single 4bbl.
