What would you guys pay for a 1968 DODGE CHARGER R/T. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR. DOES HAVE GOOD FRAME RAILS BUT DOES NEED SHEET METAL WORK. BODY ONLY and all interior.  SOLD WITH A BILL OF SELL ONLY.

marshallfry01

I cant really tell with one picture, but from what I see I don't think I would pay more than a grand for it. But that's just my  :Twocents:

Plus the guy doesn't know what year Charger he has!!

could be a 68 with a 70 front cap? $500 bucks what are you guys smoking? titles are easy to get if it's not stolen. that car doesn't look terrible, and with solid frame rails, $2800 isn't out of line at all. In fact if he would take $2500 i feel that's a pretty good buy! and no i'm not the seller's first cousin or anything.. lol just my opinion.  :shruggy:

"What would you pay?" is a different question than "what is it worth?" which tends to make me think about what it might go for on the open market.

I think if I were trying to unload a project like that I would at least invest in a couple of rattle cans of primer before taking pics to try and get it looking consistent.

I'm glad people are still dragging projects out of the swamps but you're right, the prices they ask for some of them are stuck in 2007.

I paid about $2500 for my DD'd '69.  They'd have to pay ME to go home with a non-runner/roller...

ditto.  If really an RT w/ numbers matching on the car & fender tag it seems it would be quite a bit more than 500 bucks.

Bakerhillpins - It looks like the fenders have been cut and  green parts  is from another fender.

I wouldn't even consider it unless you are looking for a real challenge of your automotive skills and have a parts car.....
When I look at the pictures, I see a lot of parts that are missing and will require a deep wallet.  You would be better off spending a bit more money and getting a better starting point for your dream.....this one looks like the makings of a nightmare.....(just my two cents...)

Just because you don't want to buy the project and start trying to restore it yourself, that does not mean it's worthless.

Ghoste

I don't know that I feel it's worthless, I'm just answering the question as Vainglory is, I wouldn't pay anything for it.  Hmm, I suppose that means that to me it is worthless. :shruggy:

Um, then there'd be those who critique it for being "Not worth $2500.00 because you don't know what's "Hiding" under all that primer"....

It still has the 68 hood on it. Wonder if someone was planning a Daytona clone? The back end is super rusty though - and I'm no longer planning on working on anything that needs that much metal replacement. I'd still bet it's worth more than $1,000 (but probably less than $2,500). It will take a HUGE amount of work to be decent.

Troy

This wreck can also be restored if one were to put enough time & money into it. But why would one want to?

It's the same difference.

Mike DC

1.  Most of the cars that have been restored in this hobby were money-losing operations compared to just buying a restored car.  And yet whenever I find a guy selling an imperfect Charger, for some reason he still expects me to pay him money for it.

2.  There is such a thing as a parts-car.  Complete doors, solid subframes, etc . . . all worth money.  You may not be able to unbolt $1000 worth of little hardware from that car, but you could probably take off major pieces & hack it up for a fair amount.

3.  That thing could not only be a parts-car, it could also be used as a "part" for some other car with a more rusty chassis.  Fixing that chassis is only a bad deal if you can find a better one for that money elsewhere.  You may not be able to.

Cause instead of exclaiming how there are "No Good Charger's left" they'd simply invest their "Brick" (Pun intended), of money into that car and build their "Good Charger"....
