Have you check with your state motor vehicle office?

when i was looking for my charger there where a lot that had no title,i did not want to go through the bonded title potential problems on a car i was going to put 20 to 30 grand into, however in your situation of knowing the cars history, should be no big deal, you will need a bill of sale & then just get a title sevice to handle it  :Twocents:

has anyone gone throught the process to get a bond title

Yes, I went to my insurance company with three print outs... one from my DMV and one from the two surrounding (states) DMVs that the car was clear (lien) and not stolen and three weeks and $300 later I had a new (Arizona) title in my hand.

I have gotten clear titles a few times here in Michigan. All I did was go to the DMV with a bill of sale signed by my self and the seller and the vin number and told them the title was lost. The state does a title search and if it doesn't come back as stolen a new clear title is issued and in hand in about 2 weeks.

I don't know how it works in your state but it doesn't hurt to contact the DMV and ask what your options are.
I may be schizophrenic but at least I have us!

Texas DMV is tricky w.r.t. titles.   I never got a bonded title, but I did have to get a title for car that did not have one (title destroyed by insurance company after it was totalled).

Serious PITA... you can NOT dispose/recycle/crush/junk a car in TX without a valid title.

I ended up putting in paper work for an abandoned car on my property.  TX DMV issued me a salvage title ($2) after a 30 day waiting period (allows pervious owners to claim the car).

While you can obtain a lost title, im not sure of the precise way to get one AND put it in your name other than what I mentioned above (which only worked for me so i could junk the car).

I did find this "how to get a bonded title in TX" link for you: http://www.txdmv.gov/vehicles/titles/bonded.htm

Good luck!

About six years ago my mother bought an abandoned house next door to hers in a sheriff's sale.  The taxes had not been paid for several years.  She wanted a bigger side yard and was going to tear the house down.  When she unlocked the garage door there was a car inside.  The owner of the house had died and his wife had Alzheimers and was in a nursing home.  They had no children.  She gave me the car but it had no title.  An attorney said that when she bought the house she also had bought the contents of it also and she could give me the car.  He said for about $500.00 he could get the state to issue me a title but they would issue me a new VIN and I wanted to use the original one, so I said no thanks.

I Googled "Title Problems" and found Broadway Title in Alabama.  They said with proper documentation they will issue me a bill of sale which I will then take to the BMV along with a form signed by the local police and the state will issue me an Indiana title.  They need some paperwork from me showing the car is legit (not stolen) and about $300.00.  I did it and had an Indiana title in about four weeks.
