seat frame interchange?

Alright guys - I have an odd question.   I have a set of 1966-1967 bucket seat cores...      I have a 1968 Satellite...    now the 66-67 seats look different than the 1968-1969 seats (66-67 have hard shell backs and trim along the bottom edges where as the 68-69 do not)  -  So here's my question...   Can I use the later (1968) seat covers on these seats and just leave the extra plastic shell piece off ?  or are they Completely different?

I believe they are completely different.  I'm not 100% on that though.

eh -  oh well...   Probably just have my local guy mimic the 68 pattern - I like the hardback shells on the earlier seats anyway - unless someone local wants to trade for 68-69 seats.
