Had to rebuild my stock carb and went ahead and removed the intake to just take a look, the cam had a lot of scores and discoloration so it's defiantly worn. The engine doesn't smoke at startup or any time it's running but does run a little shaky and I can't get it out so I think a stock 318 cam and lifter/valve adjust might buy me some miles so I just want to switch it out and drive it while I work on it-my question is can I remove the cam,w the grill and radiator out, with the engine still in the car? It's looks like it would Be close to the crossover or radiator support, anybody got any feedback on this one?
This is gonna be cheap and easy......

I assume this is a "poly" 318? if so, watch ordering any camshafts from the aftermarket as you will recieve one for the latewr "LA" style engine and it will not work. (Different valve arrangement).

You should contact Gary Pavlovich...He's a poly Guru. He's got some pretty nasty sounding cams for the polys.
