Well, maybe not, but...

I was in Yukon, Oklahoma stopping to get gas on my way to OKC for a car show this past weekend.  My MoDar went off and sure enough a 3rd gen was at Chik'Fil'A.

I got lucky and caught the owner...Turns out he and his son were heading from Las Vegas, Nevada all the way over to Georgia (didn't say ATL, but I figured it made for a good subject line)...The kicker is he said they did it roughly once a year!

This is significant because this past weekend in OKC it was 100+ with very humid air...The show Saturday night was 106 at sunset on the parking lot.  Friday at the track the air was so bad it was like I was still in Amarillo  :rotz:

Nonetheless, I figured this deserved a post...wasn't going in a convoy, wasn't going to a massive show, just driving his 74 across country with no fear...don't see it too often anymore:

Did you point them this way?

As always.  The actual show had a General Lee, a 72, and a 73...it was predominantly late models.  Never found the owner of the 72...didn't get talk to the General's owner, and the 73 from the show is already a member here  :2thumbs:

What car show was it? I'm from the area.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

It was the GPMM show at River Wind Casino...they technically call it the "Mopar Nation Midwest Meet."  It is tied in with the big late model forums, which I am not a huge fan of...

I intended to post here, but didn't get a chance...in large part thanks to the hotel not having internet as advertised  :rotz:  The way stuff seems to be over there it is divided between new and old pretty sharply...which is a shame.  OKC should draw from DFW, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri to make a nice turnout.

I've got highlights from the race and show here:

http://www.lonestarmopars.com/news/

It is the first two articles at this point.  I would have enjoyed seeing more 60s & 70s personally.  Overall though, not a bad time.

The Dart I featured at the start of the race highlights was someone totally oblivious to the "Mopar Race" even happening...I bet he'd have been able to go deep in the Gambler's Race had he have known...Told his wife he'd be home early and kept his word.  We had about 4 cars come over from Amarillo/Eastern New Mexico.

If you have anything going down that way feel free to PM me or something...I'll spread the word over here.  We have a few out of OKC and Lawton coming in for Polk St. this weekend and should have more coming in for Chryslers in the Canyon  :coolgleamA:

I'll get the show posted early next year...
