Looks like a fairly solid car, but let's face it, the car will need at least 50 grand put into it. Considering the asking price, you have to ask yourself if a '66 is worth 90+ grand when finished in today's market?

No,especially a 66,no offense to those who own them, just not as desirable as 68-70,or 71 for that matter. :Twocents:

30 some-odd thousand miles and last on the road in the 70's.  I wonder what happened to the car that took it out of action so soon.  When was all of that gas crisis nonsense?

'Mad Max' happened he did not configure the car with two 55 gallon drums in the rear.....

Seriously its a great car 4 speed, with 427 hemi??? Its worth some coin, but to try to sell it here the folks are smarter than the average person. Put it on ebay and you will get 15k for it!!!!

Started in the late 70's but the early 80's was when they found out they could tack an extra buck a gallon on to the price finding out they could manipulate the economy as well as line their back pockets.

Why restore it?

Clean it up, get it running & just drive it.  :yesnod:

Ghoste

Just curious, are the boards underneath just stashed there or is the car resting on them?

That engine is messed up!

Look at the plug wires going through the valve covers! :eek2:

Seriously though........awesome find but way to much money.

Because it's a HEMIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

roundyrounder

45K is a bit steep. Theres a guy who lives in my area with a '67 Hemi 4speed in about the same original condition. I heard he paid about 15k-16k for his and he drives it as is.

That 69 R/T Barn Find went for about $25,000 back in 2008, and that was still when prices were up there  :Twocents:

For the money, I'd take the 69 R/T over the 66 Hemi, but that's me  :slap:

I've had engines that have set for 30+ years and locked up that I've got running. It will run provided it doesn't have a rod locked up.

A383Wing

Automatic car, no power steering or brakes, but it has the optional clock

$45k is a bit steep in my opinion for what you gotta do to get it respectable

im sure the guy came on the board just to try to sell his and figure well Ill ask two questions and then if they want to call they can call....im done with this forum its served its purpose for me....

Ghoste

Thats what I think too.  Its a charger and its a Hemi and its not in terrible shape but its overpriced.

Big Sugar

Im thinking you would be lucky to fetch 23,000 for that .  Sorry its to far gone.

Im a second gen guy too, have a 68 R/T...but Ive always liked the old fastbacks too...bottom line is, heres a 1st year Charger with a HEMI...dont have to know much else than that, Id walk away from a 69 R/T (non hemi) and gladly take home a fastback that not every Mopar lover has or even sees too often.. :2thumbs:

TheAutoArchaeologist

Awesome Barn Find.  The ones dreams are made of.  But 1st Gen's don't bring in the money that they should.  In the condition it is in, maybe between 18,000 - 25,000

Indygenerallee

Sorry, Crack pipe price... I love folks that think just because it's a original 426 Hemi car it's worth damn near $50G, This car is not very desirable $15,000 TOPS!!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.
