This pic from '73 is awesome.  SMOKEY burnout on the wedding day is AWESOME :)  I always wondered if people who owned MoPars really POUNDED them when they first had them?

Best damned auction I've ever seen on eBay...

Nice Charger, I think I'd have to have the Bee tho.  :2thumbs:  The big ol' bug eyed Bee is suckin' the paper into the grills, love it.

Could you imagine doing that nowadays, your buddy in the Charger would ring your neck for throwing rocks on the car. :RantExplode: ;)

Why do you think it is so hard to find a Mopar with the original Drivetrain? These cars were meant to be beaten on ,not Trailer Queens or muesuem pieces.

-from the day they were bought. And thrashed hard. The record for the guys I knew was a buddy who gernaded the 383 in his 1969 4 speed runner within a week. He was the squirreliest of the bunch. Didn't need a throttle - if the car was running it was to the floor. And as mentioned above - if you still had your original motor for more than a month, well you just weren't leaning on it hard enough. Junkyards were full of donor engines.

Kind of makes you wonder why so many of them are numbers matching 40 years later huh? ;)

I've always wondered why there are more numbers matching cars now in the year 2006 than there was in 1979 or 1980. I mean in 1980-85 when people were starting to collect these cars, I would venture to say that less than 40% of the cars were numbers matching at that point. And of the HEMI cars or R/T's I would say it would be even lower than that.

Good points.  I think along with the collectability came RESEARCH.  I bet alot of car guys went back down the line, and pulled alot of blocks from garages...  I had to track mine down, and it was no easy feat, but it all worked out...

My personal opinion is that there are a lot of people who took years of searching and found their origional blocks and such. But I also feel that there is a great number of those people that gave up searching for the correct one, and just had someone with the dyes stamp them the correct VIN on another block. Most likely a replacement block, its not that hard to have a block restamped.

What a cool car!
I figure the original owner is about 52 years old now, I wonder why he doesn't buy the car back? I sure would, if I could.

That old footage sure is neat too. :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
