Anyone know anyone or any place that could customize a 1/18 ERTL car to match mine? I see they're making 1/18 scale Chargers now and would like to have one match my car.

any suggestions?

I asume you mean one of the '70 diecast models. Just take it apart, get some paint like yours, and spray it. Then put it back together.

I wanna make one into a sun roof "70 Charger.

Shouldn't be too awful hard.

If I screw it up, it'll just end up being an homage to Chargervert's car.  :icon_smile_big:

Well OK, I used to build models as a kid I guess I could...any sources for 1/18 decals so I can put the "500" stripe back on it?

the 1/18th scale models are usually all screwed together...   small philips head and you're golden...   lightly sand/primer/ paint the body to desired colorand detail the engine bay and such while you're at it.

I did mine, the car its self was allready red, I added the vinyl top and lowered it that was the hardest part. Found
some magnum's with Radial TA's. I have not put the stripes on yet but that is easy.

You can find just about any diecast car you want to start with from ebay, and go from there.

Yep just a flat black paint, I also used some tape to copy the original lines of the vinyl top.

Some good ideas. I actually have one of buggys "junk" '69's..he does good work. yeah, this might make a good project while I'm in Korea for a year

Thanks and looks good 8 wheeler!

70charginglizard

I did mine too using a 69.
Been working on it real hard. Even used some left over gator grain material for the roof.
Of corse wouldn't you know that they would release a 70 right after I get this one looking as close as it can to mine.

They sold a Mach-1, 2-3yrs ago I think it was one of those put together kits. It had the tires on it, I used
them and put away the FORD  ;D

70charginglizard,

That looks great! What did you do for the grill?

Nothing. It still has a 69 grill in it. I tried to insert a 70 grill from a fast and furious one I had but it didn't fit at all and I didn't want to screw with it since these new 70 diecasts just came out.
I'm probably going to buy another 70 diecast and start to modify it for color, Gator grain top, and all my options to replace this 69 one.
Till then my 69 will have to do.   ::)

Hey 8Wheeler, where did you get those display covers with the clear bottoms?
This one looks pretty good. :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

ive done one or two . 1/24th plastics mostly.

there is a company that makes 'printible' decales. basicaly its the clear decale film that you run thru your printer then spray some clear paint over it  and after its all dry you just apply it like a normal decail. the hardest part is getting the stripe laied out on the computer.
basically, the reason I dont offer to do it up for you is because the shipping usualy wrecks em (re-painted bodys arnt as durable as the standard ones.

if you need any help what so ever just lemme know Im always ready to hand out tips.
I think its one of those things that youll appreciate more if you do it your self.
my first bit of advice... I know it seems like the way to go to get some touch up paint and just thin it down and spray it on. ..... personally I have never gotten one of those paint jobs looking right.. its eather way to thin and runs like crazy or orange peels like you wouldent believe.
go get a bunch of colors in a paint brand called tamya. its acrylic, goes on smooth dries flat and can be thinned and cleaned with rubbing alchol. play around with mixing colors and spraying gold or silver base coats and spraying there transparent colors over it... that will give you a deep color and they mix great so matching with some time should be no biggy.

Actually the one model in my picture is 1/24 scale, I don't have a picture of my 1/18 scale car like it yet.
Here is the car I got the tires from http://cgi.ebay.com/1971-FORD-MUSTANG-MACH-1-DIECAST-MODEL-KIT-1-24-VHTF_W0QQitemZ6987746349QQcategoryZ758QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This model sold for $9.99 in Wallmart when I bought mine. I wish I had bought more, these prices are crazy.
They were on the shelve for some time, nobody was buying them, oh well.

Thanks. I didn't realize it was 1/24 scale. I tried to find a Mach-1 with BFG's in 1/18 scale last night and had no luck.
