What does the embossed "18" mean next to the '68 fender tag?

This is from a current ebay offering, a slant-6 all original '68. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Charger-White-Hat-Special-1968-Dodge-Charger-Orig-1-Owner-Bullitt-69-Dukes-clone-Stored-since-/200790950878?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2ec012c3de. I can't tell if the number is on a metal tag or a type of tape. Any idea?

And this would be a nice cruiser, leaving in place the slant-6.  :yesnod:

Inspector stamp.

It was inspected by number 18 - whoever that was...........

Barry,

Was this inspection stamp added later in the model year in the assembly process? Is it a hit or miss process? I don't recall any other '68's having this identifier.

I do not study 1968 cars at all.

That said, for 1970 Hamtramck & LA cars with original paint, I have not seen them on all cars. I have seen spray patterns in the paint on some cars were they used to be.

It doesn't say Dodge until inspector 18 says it does!  (a blatant ripoff from an old Hanes tv ad for any of the younger set here who didn't know where that came from)
