Hello All, First post here, and was hoping someone might have an idea whats going on with my 70/500. when I turn the headlights on, my whole electrical system seems to be drained, volt meter goes to the rt. and I hear a clicking under/behind my dash. It may stop for a few seconds or mins. but always starts up again, and makes me wonder if I will make it home. I'm into a resto on it now, and am blocked out and looking for a parts order to come in and hopefully paint in the next couple of weeks. I did order that headlight relay underthe dash near your left knee, hoping I might get lucky with that. If anyone has any other Idea's I would love to hear them,as the car is pretty gutted now with the front window out and the dash disconnected.  Thanks, Brian

The clicking you hear may be coming from the circuit breaker for the headlight door motor.
Unplug the headlight door motor the next time you hear the clicking and see if that stops it.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Hey hey devil dog welcome to the menagerie! If able6 means what I think it means then you have got to be a crazy Intruder jock. Love 'em. Wrenched on A6, F4 and old A4 scooters way back in the day. I hope your HL issue is easy to solve......I'm still yelling at mine. Post some pix of your resto progress when you can.

Yeah that's probably it.  Also check the light switch itself to be sure it doesn't get hot.

Oh and welcome!

So if I unplug the headlight door motor and the clicking and or voltage issue stops, what does that mean? Like what part is bad? the motor or the relay? some folks have told me there is some kind of limiter in the relay to kill current when the door are open,,because there are no limit switches in the motor,,,,,I don't know how the system was designed to work,,,and that would sure be helpful when trouble shooting :shruggy:

The gear is stripped inside the motor. Its allowing the limit switch to open and close real fast as the armature spins. I have new ones available.

Thanks for the reply... Is there a way to check to see if its the problem, with the motor out? I am a bit disassembled at the moment, and am hoping to get things together by early to mid Sept.,,,Brian
