I could use some pics too.. I'll be putting mine on some time in August.
I noticed at Carlisle that some Chargers had tail stripes that went straight across the trunk lid, and some had the stripes the had a V shape on the trunk lid....  :shruggy:

No V... I've never seen the V on the '68 but I have seen it on '69 and '70... did those come from the factory with a V?  Maybe the people doing the '68's were assuming they all were V'ed?

The stripe follows the contour of the decklid. A painted on straight stripe looks goofy.

the reason i ask is i talked to performance graphics about their display pics & one on left looks like 99% of the ones i see,and i think it looks like crap, mind you i love 68 charger rt stripes, they lean to far back at the top & makes the stripe at an angle, they said they have seen stripes from factory both ways,i like the stripe more straight up & down

After thinking about it today, I decided to look through my old photo album. Here's the back end of my old Hemi Charger (taken circa January 1978). While the paint was not original, the stripe was. From this angle, it appears that the stripe is neither vertical on the quarter, nor does it follow the exact angle of the bumper cutout. It's hard to tell from the scan, but I would say that the stripe is ever-so-slightly straighter in relation to the bumper cutout. Notice the placement of the stripe in relation to the side marker light.

My car has been in the family since 1980 and mine since 1985. The car has never been painted so I went out and took some stripe pictures. Both lower quarters have had a little work on the bottom edge. On the passenger side I taped off the remaining factory stripe to prevent damage to what was left. On the drivers side I rattle canned the lower end of the stripe back on the the fixed quarter. If you look for the cracks and chips in that stripe you can see the factory stripe goes pretty far down and only the bottom is paint. I only painted as little as possible. One day I'll fix the passenger stripe. If anyone wants more angles let me know and my son and I will shot it.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or does the drivers side look straighter than the passenger side?

No kidding, but notice that the stripe is positioned on the marker light the same on both sides, which could only mean that the decklid stripe is slightly crooked? :dunno:

It might be the picture look at the top of the picture the one picture the body is straight with the edge of the picture the other picture its not. It was tight on the right side of the car when I took the pictures last night.
