Well I don't want to waste my time with this one or his time either if it's not worth it....maybe I'll just have to move on....

its very hard to find a good driver for a good price,i would take it to a good mechanic & pay him to ck it out,i have seen some pretty nice 68s in the low 20s,this car is not even close to that, maybe 12 in this economy  :Twocents:

even in this economy based on what you guys saw I dont think he would get 16k for it. Unless a new Fast and Furious comes out this summer then I dont see chargers jumping in price, yet, based on what folks have said it does look like a 12k car.

I base everything off a recent seller on here who sold his car for 15k, no rust, 440 non original, all it needed was brakes bled. It was such a good price a person from overseas bought it. I still believe a nice daily driver can be had for 15k and dont let others tell you other wise because they want to sell theres to you for a higher price etc.....

So I should move on and keep looking....

Oh...and where the he!! Was I when that car was sold....would've jumped all over that. Day late dollarS short

Need to take a knowledgable person with you and go look at it in person. Asking everybody here will only give you mixed results. Some will call Bullsh*t, and some will tell you it's a steal. If the car is legit and as described expect to pay at least 15-$20K for a driver.

I was going to show a body man the pictures and see what he thought. Not sure if I'll ge there today or not. I guess my thoughts after listening is that if I wait and can get one better for the same dollars maybe that's what i should do. I dont want to get in over my head but I do want something dependable that can be a driver. To be honest if this one didn't have the big dent on the passenger side I'd be very interested despite the rust etc. but I can see how it would be a project to get a lot of it to the specs I guess of a "good" driver.

After looking at the pictures is I would consider dropping $14 on it.  If it is solid, I think it is worth $14 all day long.  I watch these cars too, and from the 2008, 2009 low, prices are starting to rise again, slowly.

Yea, the interior is bad, but that is not hard.  Paint, thats where it will get pricey.

May want to send a PM to Travis( 69charger2002 ).  He sometimes has a extra Charger or two laying around, and is always fair on his prices.

Good luck.

The car is all there and complete. Yes it has it's share of bumps and bruises and some rust issues are starting to show and the interior is pretty beat. Offer him 12k cash, never know.
How long have you been looking for a 68? How old is your Dad? Can he wait five more years? The "great deals" are usually the one where someone is in the right place at the right time. Doesn't happen very often. At least not to me.

there will be more....be patient and wait for the right one.....did he say how much he sold it for?

I've only been looking about three months. ONLY, lol! My dad is 64 but was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in October. He's been in chemotherapy once a week since. I'm not really concerned with the year. My dad actually had a 69. I don't think sadly he has 5 years. He hasn't sold it but I told him today thanks but no thanks. I think I agree with you all....I can find a better one. I just have to try to be patient. Lol easier said then done. thanks guys for all your help. It's really appreciated. I'll be bugging you that's for sure!

good decision.

I have seen rust free, original paint cars sell for under 20k in this summer, its always better to spend a few grand more when you buy if you can, because fixing the issues in a car like that wont be cheap and fast.

changing an engine, trans or suspension is a weekend job for an average guy, fixing body and paint will take a whole winter for most of us. and takes effort to get it right.
just wait a while, I see good deals all the time, and economy is just getting worse, u havent seen nothing yet, so these cars WILL get cheaper.

Compare to the car I restored (though for future reference now):

The rust around the rear window is the biggest concern on that car, it will probably be a major project at some point.
