Im assuming to get this looked these are bagged?  Unless he never drives the car on the roads since it might hit the road and harm the under carriage area?

I liked the 'little bit of tire' under the body, but I know if I go over speed bumps im gonna scrape the buttom somehow unless I had the abliliy to raise it.

Never underestimate people's willingness to build good looking cars too impractical to drive in the real world.


If you bring a car down by more than a couple inches, the unibody's front subframe itself gets low enough to hit the pavement on bumps.  At that point it won't matter what you do with the exhaust & suspension, the car is just too low.  

IMHO any car going really low needs the whole undercarriage sunk a few inches upwards into the body like the early NASCAR Chargers.  At least if you want it to be a REAL street car and ride that low.

As long as it's functional and lends to the performance potential of the car I see nothing wrong with it.  Ricers do similar things, scraping tires on the actual fenders and whatnot AND THEY THINK ITS COOL.  Again as long as the performance potential of the car isn't sacrificed and hopefully improved the setup is at the discretion of the owner. 

And honestly, what I truly find ridiculous is that stock looking '68 on the other thread; does that thing still have teeny weeny bias-play tires?  Drum brakes?  The ammeter wired up and ready to go up in flames?  Probably...

AMEN Mike once again. Things that look cool are almost always impractical in the real world. Very few actually have a cool look and function. Lowered cars IMO, as I've had/have a few, SUCK to drive in the real world. However, the cool factor and how long you put up with it, all depends on your patience.

Imagine some of the exotic sports cars like the Porsche Carrera GT where they are scraping level ground just about and its the way they come from the factory.  Pay all that money for something and have to plot out the route each trip to avoid road conditions that are otherwise normal.

I guess I just like the look where the rear tires lip is stuffed in the wheel well, but at the same time for everyday driver also where I dont have to worry too much about some dinky speed bumps at the mall or something to scrape my under carriage.

I found out it requires alot of suspension work to get this look. I will lower it low as possible with the smallest shackles one could find.

Just to clarify, 

The post I made above was directed more at the MAJOR lowering jobs.  Its usually not a big deal to bring a car down an inch or two below stock.


But these days, most of the cars in the Mopar hobby are already riding around with the front end slightly lowered compared to the true stock height.  So when someone talks about wanting to lower their Mopar down, they are usually picturing something pretty far below the factory intended setting on the front end.

Depending on the style they don't look bad. Chip foose wheels are horrific in my opinion.  The torque thrusts look really good in big sizes and if they made a vector in a 16 or 17 I would probably buy it. The low profile tires would make a world of difference.

Personally, even if the wheel is model'd after an existing one, it still looks stupid. Like those 18-20" Plymouth Rallye wheels in chrome. Damn, that looks sh*tty. Low profile tires will cause all kinds of headaches when it comes to ride quality. Ever hit a pot hole with those things? Yep, bent wheel.

My 07 RT has the road and track package, part of the upgrade is the 20 inch rims and I don't have any problems.

20's on the 2nd gen look ghetto, I agree, but I think some of the 17's I've seen look pretty good.

yeah the thin profile tires are horrible for daily driver.  Had rid in one before and man let me tell ya feels likes crap. I do believe in a happy medium though....though not too beefy sidewalls either like some guys like it sorry I dont go to the track daily.....

16-17" would be bout the maximum for me. "Hitman's" post with the black Dodge looks tarded. Not enough backspacing on the wheels. Looks to "Hot wheels" to me.

I like the look of the "Fiske"(I think?) wheels Cody posted though.

That is not Johns (Hitmans) car, that is Mikes (Mr. Angry) car.  Those pictures are just photo-shopped pictures of Mikes car with different wheels and stripe.

He never did that to his car, in fact he sold his car at least a couple years ago.

Sadly no. I had my 9 year old daughter with me and let's just say she is less then enthusiastic about old cars at this point. I bought extra time by getting her icecream but I was scared to death she would spill it on a car so I kept my distance.

I have to say those 16s fit it so well.....they look l ike 20s to me....I like that look also.

Function and fit! 16-17-18-19 wheels look real nice
If your into the tiny 15" look that's ok too
But performance is in the bigger sizes
There is a limit to how big and yes a lot do cross the line!

Just remember little wheels =little brakes
