I think this one's been around for awhile but it was used on me for the first time.  I had my toolboxes on Ebay and a woman from a Colorado Air Force Base agreed to pay full price, no negotiations, and this was after the auction had ended and there were no bids.  Awesome I thought!!  Even though her grammar, punctuation, and the use of the English language were subpar, we agreed on the transaction.  Since she was out of state, she gave me a number for a shipper she trusts here in Houston.  It was a bogus number (Strike 1).  Sent her another email telling her so.  She responds back (once again, terrible English), telling me that she sent the money via Paypal but that Western Union put a hold on the money until I send her an amount of $981 for shipping and handling (Strike 2).  I respond back saying that she was on crack...yes I used those words.  I told her a more alternate and sane way of doing this transaction and she says that I don't know how Paypal works.  I blew her off.  A day later I get an email from the FBI!!  Cool!! It looks authentic, seal and all, but the secretary must have had a 5th grade education as this email was also full of mistakes (Strike 3).  By then I knew it was a huge scam as this FBI agent did not address me by my full name, but only my email address.
I read awhile back that Nigeria is a huge hub of scam activity and that there are actually schools over there that teach kids on how to scam Americans.  It's their main source of income.  Anyway, ya'll be careful out there!
