One of our driver's pulled down a power line today on the job AFTER we were signed out, and cleaning our truck dump boxes out (we were paving a road). I was no less the 10 feet away from it all. So, he gets out of the truck after everyone telling him to stay in it cause the line was draped over the truck yet, then grabs the power line to see if it was still hot!!!!!!!!! I'm still in shock over that. In 30 years of driving truck, THAT is the stupidest thing I EVER heard a truck driver or ANYONE say, little alone do. My mind is still trying to process all of it as being a truck driver, power lines are one thing we are trained to beware of, and what he did just totally went against everything most of us all know. I'm just happy it was a dead line at that point as I would have had that image of him & the flagman standing there being electrocuted in my mind the rest of my life. If it would of been raining, and everything was wet.... yeah. Doesn't pay to be in a hurry at the end of the day ever. That was a major disaster that didn't happen fully.

Good candidate for the Darwin awards!  Glad you're okay, you may want to tell your boss you're not teaming up with him again.

A drug test is  right were one of my guys would have went. I have been driving 20+ years and now owning a few Semi  End Dumps, A few of my *EX* employees never ceased to amaze me. I have seen guys raise there trailers right up into the power lines and plenty of other just stupid Stuff. Glad you are okay.
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Then again, if you're not grounded you're not completing the circuit so you're safe.  Maybe he knew this.   Electricity follows the path of least resistance.   I've held hot wires a few times so I know first hand.    :yesnod:

I asked Skip once about his electrical knowledge. He explained that he uses one of the oldest and best methods to check for live wires. He wets his fingers and thumbs with his tongue and grabs hold of each hot lug while he puts his tongue on the neutral.. He said it worked better than the old screw driver trick, though he misses the fireworks..  :D  True story......

NOW you know why Skippy is SKIPPY!!!!!!!!  :2thumbs:

Years ago a local volunteer fireman hit one with a ladder on a call. It blew clean through his gloves and the soles of his boots to get to ground.  At the copper foundry I used to work at, an electrician not wearing a suit got himself arced from  a power panel four feet away. High voltage is nothing to play with!
I've been bit by 440 on a few occasions, and recovering from that is no walk in the park.
