Back N Black

I received an e-mail from a member yesterday asking me if I just enjoy busting balls or do i really  hate all General lee's? I really do like the GL's, I have several models and a General Lee door on my garage wall. I have been known to make negative comments in GL threads, but it was all in good fun. Its hard to tell if someone is serious sitting behind a computer. So if I offended anyone, I'm sorry. Just wanted to clear the air.

Cheers

Dont sweat it buddy! A GL is not everyones cup of tea. Its just paint and stickers really. But I think we true enthusiasts can look past a color choice or year of mopar, and just appreciate the beauty and craftmanship of these cars! Dont let some small minded person, piss you off. Their not worthy of that much effort.  :2thumbs:

In my defense I asked Stuart if he wanted a ride in my general Lee and he said and I quote "Chuck, where would you like me to sit"    :drool5:

There really are people out there that do not like GL's due to the show. From what I have read, most don't like it due to the amount of Chargers they ruined. I don't mind them so much, but I lean more to original or modified to better technically and performance wise.

I figure you can't beat the looks of an old MoPar muscle car, but as nice as they were today we have much better stuff to make them even more outstanding.

What did you say to piss off this GL nut swinger?  I mean if you're persistently trolling GL threads I could see the point but c'mon man, GL's aren't for everyone...

myk

No, not at all.  Well, when I first bought it in '94 I was going to finish the GL treatment that the 'PO was doing but I changed my mind.  I just happen to think that the orange suits this particular car well...

440

Yes, agreed orange looks good. The Hurricane rims suggest it might be GL'd, if your keeping them are you ready for the GL comments ?

myk

Wow that's what those rims are called?!  I've always wanted to know something, anything about them.  They're not quite GL-like rims but I always thought they looked better anyway.  Thanks for the info, but no as soon as I have enough money saved I'm switching to 17 or 18" dark grey Torq-Thrust 2 wheels...

Everyone had different tastes....if we all liked the same thing, it would be a boring world.

Some people just take stuff to heart. I can't even begin to count how many times Green Mopars get negative comments, I for one love green mopars, everything from light green met. to high impact lime greens...I just love green. But on the other hand, I for one don't think RWL tires look good on anything (well maybe an all black vehicle, I had RWL on my black truck when I bought it new, but when I replaced the original set, I went with blackwalls), when I bought the BFG's for my 69, everyone at the tire store kept asking me (dang near begged me) to put the RWL's out, but I just can't do it.

Different strokes for different folks, variety is the spice of life.

I can't believe somebody took the time to pm you because you were bashing GL's. That's just too funny.

By the way Stuart, thanks for that little bit of info we didn't need to hear. Now I need to go drink that out of my mind. :brickwall:

On your car grey TT2 plus maybe a flat grey tail stripe... sweet.

When are you going to post more than just the profile pic dude?

Cooter

I'm not at all surprized. It all depends on what is your hot button as to how well you take something posted on threads here. Some can't stand the overwhelming support for what many have and continue to defend as bullsh*t concerning the GL world. Myths which I can't believe get spread around like wildfire, like "440 Hemis in cop cars back in the 70's"...Remember, if it's repeated enough times, the lie tends to be percieved as truth. Some just simply get tired of hearing all the myths repeated here over and over concerning the GL and their love of 'em. Some right here tend to get fire engine mad when they hear their car looks like a Damn LA pimp with those 22" wheels on it when it is posted, yet will kinda expect that GL owners should deal with the very same comments about how they "Ruined another Charger", or they "Can't believe many in the hobby were only drawn to the 2nd Gen Charger becasue of a certain orange '69 back in the early 80's...

What I AM Surprized at
1. Is the number of folks that tend to like to poke fun at people they clearly do not know on the Internet and expect them to simply take it at face value. When all the time, if it were said as such in real time, face to face, at a car show, they know full and well they would be concidered a douchebag and called on it as such.
2. The fact that you "Back in Black", decided to explain it was all in fun. Takes very little time to post these few words at the end of any "Condecending" posts....
"All in fun, no harm meant"....I commend you for that. Just sorry it took a PM to get it done. :2thumbs:

Well said, Cooter..

"Back In Black" is a good guy... I don't think he's one of those people that would act any different in "real life" as he does here. Does that mean there aren't plenty of armchair quarterbacks here? Absolutely.. And I can pretty much promise that 90% of the shit you see posted here on a LOT of subjects you wouldn't hear face to face.. But, that's what makes the internet an interesting place...

To each his own. I do what I do for myself.. F--- anything else...

That.....is a really good idea.  Does the stripe come off if I need it to?  As for pictures, well...I sort of pulled the car out of the shop before they were finished with it-the whole matter was controversial but unfortunately there are a few details on the car that need to be fixed before I consider it worthy of posting up...

Sure it can Myk.
I take my vinyl stripe off every now and again if I choose to do the GL thing for a show.
In fact, here's my Charger last weekend.
Had some guys who have a band called the Dukes Of Haggard wanted to get some pics with a General for some promo poster. It was all off by the Monday and I'll restripe it some time this week.
Helps to have a vinyl plotter and artwork to re-do the stripe each time.
I made the flag and numbers magnetic for convenience btw.

Gotta love a '69
