i currently have 15x7s all around. i got 235 60 15s up front and 275 60 15s out back. i wanna keep the 15" rim size. all y tires are good and im going to reuse them but i would like to get a rim that allows me to go up in size in the rear.

i think my wheels are old c-body wheels one got destroyed so i need to replace it or just get all new wheels.

i think their all 15x7 4.5 backspacing

Fred

My Mag500's are 15x7 in front and 15x8 on rear. Works well.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Get some 15x8's for the back.. you can run your 275's or go up to 295's.

I have several sets, but my clear favorite on a charger is 15x8s & 15x10s (but I am a product of the 80-90s)

What about the back spacing? Theres a wheel I like but its only 3.75 back spacing so I can't go bigger then the 275 60 out back

My setup is the same as Freds and i like the look. I do know you can get mag500's in 15x10 with 4.5" BS. Currently I have 275 60's on the rear with 4"BS. At some point, soon I hope, I'll swap the rear setup with 15x10's and mount 295 50s.....I like that look mo better. Fits perfect on a 2nd gen.

Twodko,

That's what I have on mine, but mine are 5" BS.
You just have to panel-beat the inner arch as it interferes with tyre that size.

Thanks mate, I appreciate that!
I've just finished refurbishing the interior, and once I've found some more money, I'm getting the body re-done!
Same colour, though.....i like it too!!

Thanks again,

Wade

Agreed, although a 295/50/15" tire will fit on an 8" wheel, it really needs a 10" minimum.

Macco, your car looks great and I love the width of the tires, but I bet you have another 1-2 inches from the inside edge of the tire to the leaf springs. So you could have moved the wheel in another 1/2-1 inch and not beat the inner wheel well....

I'd like to see a pic of your car straight up the rear... I had a great shot of VegasMikes 68' straight up the rear, but my old computer ate it... Same size tires and wheels...

if your going with 10 inch on the rear get a rim with 5.5 backspacing  :Twocents:

macca3441

SteveP,
As it sits there's exactly 1" clearance from the wheel to the spring!
Beating the inner arch has given me the clearance I require to have the rear at the height I like. I dont like the rear jacked up too high!
In the pic, you can see the helper springs fitted. The rear normally sits about an 1" or so lower without the springs.
We are about to head off on a 1600 mile round trip for a Mopar weekend, and with the roads we have here(and the rear fully loaded).....helper springs work!!
But they only get put on when we go away!!

I tried those first, they didnt quite fit.. but I would agree, 5.5" backspacing lets you shim it for a perfect fit.
I run a 10" rim with a 295 and she rubs a smidge.

For Fred, I'm coming to this post late so I hope I can still catch you. I am going to run 15X7 chrome Magnum 500s on the front and 5x8's on my 68 Charger (when it ever gets done) same as you. I was wondering what size tires you have mounted on the front/rear wheels? I'm not looking for the biggest meat I can get on. I can't remember what size they were, but I had a large tire on the front that fit but felt "heavy" if that makes sense. I bought it with 225s all around and my guess is the steel magnum 500s are 14 inch. Thanks

twodko

I have the same wheels and run 245 60 and 275 60's respectively. It's a sweet setup......when monkeys drop me some simoleans outta their butts I'm going to put 10x15 with 295 50's on the back. Show us what you end up running.
