Absolute minimum wiring needed for engine/strater?

My wiring is a mess but I want to start my car.  What is the least amount of wiring I need?  Is it just power to the distributor?

And is there a simple wiring diagram for the starter?  I can live with jumping the start or not using the key, just want to have a reliable way to turn the starter

I pushed Humble Bee into the shop and I have plans to swap in the 440!

(+) battery cable to starter large lug, (-) battery cable to block then jump battery (+) to one side of ballast, other side of ballast to coil (+) terminal for ignition. To engage starter jump between large and small lug on starter.
