Windhsield Wiper question - Does the washer switch turn on the wipers?

I'm starting to get the bugs worked out of my wiring and have my wipers working from the 2 speed switch. I don't know if the washer switch is working. It operates the motor and squirts washer fluid onto the windshield but doesn't cause the wipers to make one swipe. Is my washer switch bad?

if it is a second gen, the square washer button only works the washer pump, it does not automatically turn on the wipers like todays cars do.

Yep - It's got the square button. Thanks for the reply.
