All,
After a few years of dealing with over temp issues and timing issues I was able to finally drive my car with confidence today :2thumbs:. I have had a high temp problem since my dad gave me the car back in 84' & I thought it was a motor problem (blocked water passage or timing). Two weeks ago I bought a cheap after market mechanical temp gauge and guess what, my stock gauge reads 25°F higher than the after market gauge :brickwall:. To make sure that the after market gauge was right we ran it through a calibrated oil bath at 140°, 170°, 230° & 250°F, the gauge was dead on! I think its time to replace the original sending unit. As for the timing issue that was resolved in about two minutes thanks to the information I was able to get from this great forum. The procedure was simple, set your total timing to 36°. After doing this the car runs very strong and it idles great. So again thanks to all your posting and have a great 4th of July!

Regards,
Marco

Alright, good job!  This is why I want to replace all of the gauges with aftermarket ones.  Hey post some pictures of your car!

Fred

I've been really lucky. All my original gauges are in perfect working order and reading correctly.
Sometimes life's too easy.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

F**ing NICE!  I like the no-hood thing; is that a theme you rock every once in a while?  Love the 68's, especially with your body-color tail panel which is interesting...

Thanks! The no hood deal was something I use to do back in the 90's, loved to show off all the chrome I had back then. As for the back panel being painted orange it was not my idea. Back in 84' my dad had the car painted before giving it to me and the stupid body shop painted it all orange and never applied the Bumble Bee stripes. I was not happy but being 18 and getting a big block R/T Mopar that was my dads first car was good enough for me. Plus how many people can say that they only paid $14 for a car, well I had to pay the transfer of ownership plus registration fee that totaled to $14. ;)
