I know we all like the attention our cars get but....

I find it comical that a bunch of Charger owners are growing tired of things like People talking to them about their cars. Hmmmm, Sounds alot like Celebrities talking about how much their lives suck while they make their next 50 million...
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

When I had my Charger I was always surprised at what a high percentage of the "I had/my friend had/my brother had a Charger..." stories ended with "but I/he wrapped it around a tree/telephone pole."

I don't mind the random comments. Sure, some are ridiculous, but you have to keep in mind 99% of the general population are not car fanatics. OK, maybe 97%.

It does get annoying when people start asking very personal questions, such as:
Where do you live?
Where are you from?
Do you keep this in a garage?
How much do you have in this? It must have cost a lot!
How much is it worth?
Etc etc.

Might just be my overprotective side showing thru but prying questions are the ones that irk me.

I'm with ya' I always get people asking what my SSN is and my bank acct and routing #. Really what does that have to do with owning a Charger!

myk

I've driven a faded and rust-holed '69 for the last 10 years.  Having just returned from the body shop it's refreshing to see people taking pictures, waving, yelling, talking and all that stuff as I roll down the streets during cruise night.  I actually hate, hate, HATE the noise and disruption that people and crowds bring but for now, I'm going to enjoy the brief promotion to baller status.  After that, I'll go back to being a bitter hermit...

And can that look be adopted for these situations?

......................who had "one just like that, but with 440 Hemi"
[/quote]

     ohhh I have heard that a 1000 times, I stopped correcting that statement a long time ago along with a couple others, you know, top end on my cars was 180 or it ran 10/11's when it was new, etc...

Honestly I do not mind it that much, try to be nice and move on to where I heading.  I had dreams of cars in my youth also and some guys did spend the time visiting with me then when they did not have to and I am thankfull for that, frankly/likely got me more hooked on wanting one (or two..) :Twocents:.

Dino

I don't mind the 440 hemi guys anymore, nor the ones that have no clue what it is, that's okay.  What I do mind is the kind of people Benji mentioned, the ones that think they know it all and get mad when you correct them.  I had a guy last week ask me how I modified the vinyl top to look stock because he knows for a fact Chargers never came with a vinyl top...

Or the one guy last week who was raving about the car and then said it's a '72 right?  I said no it's a '69 and he looked at me like I was kidding.  He said they didn't make them until '71.  I politely corrected him and told him the years of the different generations and still he insisted that no Chargers were made before 71 so I told him he was right, I just slapped some Charger badges on my Chevelle.  Douche...

UH60L

Yeah, I'm no expert, but I at least know the basics for what manufacturers made what around the time of my chargers birth.  That said, I seem to run into people whom I have a hard time not correcting.

The worst one was about 6 months ago at 7/11.  After he asked about our '11 challenger, I then showed him a picture of our '69 charger on my cell phone and told him that was our real baby.  He proceeded to tell me about this  car or that car that he had, which didn't bother me. But then he started cross pollenating, talking about a chevy with a hemi in it and a ford truck with a 440 (both stock from the factory...).  At that point it was time for me and my slurpee to leave.     :brickwall:

(and of course, as mentioned above, when you try to correct people, most of them don't believe you, unless you have access to a computer with internet access and alot of time to let them figure it out via google etc....)

Aero426

Talking to people is just part of the deal when you own a beautiful car like a Charger.

Maybe I'm just lucky but all I get in the Plymouth is thumbs up and smiles. I have had VERY few stupid comments

Just for alittle perspective I'm 22 and absolutly none of my friends are into cars. Throughout my whole life I've felt quite misunderstood, or better yet not understood at all. Mopar whats that?? I would love for people to show interest in my passion it would make me feel less like a freak.

"Mopar, what's that?"

This more than anything has just made me sad for the future of this country.

That is so true. If anything scares me, it's exactly that. Even worse, they're coming at you in their car but staring at yours and forget all about steering. Nearly had a head on like that once. The guy came to his senses in the very last minute.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Back N Black

I don't mind it too much, because if i see a car at the gas station I'm that guy asking all the questions, whether it be a Chevy or a ford i love them all.

I really dont mind talking cars but if i get another idiot asking when im gonna paint mine orange and put a flag on the roof :icon_smile_angry: I like the General Lee as much as anybody but not all 69 Charger were orange.

Same here. People usually just give a smile or a 'thumbs up."

ncmiller1

I don't mind the attention and questions.  I'm 27 now and bought my '68 two years ago, so most of the comments I get are, "So your dad let you take out his car, huh?"
