I used to hate the '70 Super Bee, but now I love them. Don't hate me, but I would take a Super Bee over a '69 or '70 Charger any day, and would have to think hard if I had to choose between a '68 Charger and a '70 Super Bee.

While not a Super Bee, below is a picture of my buddie's old 70 Coronet R/T convertible. Please excuse the puddle splashes on the sides and bug splats on the grille & windshield as it had just came back from a 500 mile drive.

The picture was taken in his garage at night with the lights off and it always looked it's best when photographed this way.

I have to say thank you DIRTY TURBIN!  THATS THE BEST 70 CORONET ,RT,STUPID BEE THAT I HAVE SEEN  :smilielol: :smilielol:

How can 74% of us love them?  :shruggy:  Sales plummeted from 1969 to 1970 supposedly because buyers hated the new look. :scratchchin:

Apparently the styling must have been way, way, ahead of the time because people have been loving it 40 years later  :D

'70 also marked the year that Plymouth became the better looking of the Mopars across the board, and stayed that way until muscle cars died out a couple of years later.

Really?  I prefer the Challenger to the Cuda and the Charger to everything.  I would take a 70 Road Runner to the 70 Super Bee but I'd rather a 70 Coronet RT over a GTX.  71 is a Dodge year for me and the ones after too. :Twocents:

JB400

I'd rather not choose.  Mopar or no car. :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:

Admittedly nice but not as nice as a 70 Dodge.  :nana:

I would love to add a 70 Coronet R/T to my collection of 70's so far (or Super Bee). 2-70' Chargers & 1-70' Challenger so far. I have never been a big fan of the whole Super Bee concept for some unknown reason. Just prefer the Coronet R/T name plate better. Don't get me wrong, I would take one if the price was too hard to pass up.

Yes, just like they had a 1970 Roadrunner convertible but no GTX convertible for 1970.

I believe they did a mockup of a 68 Super Bee vert.  Can't recall if it was a show car or what.

Robert96

A Super Bee covertible would just be wrong. I'm not sure why, but it would.

JB400

The Bee was made for going from one stop light to another. Why bother knocking the top off?  It just adds more weight.  The only reason the RR got one was to boost already high sales.  It done better than the GTX because the RR had more  character, or at least a character and had the same options.  GTX nameplate was just to copycat GTO and GNX

Ghoste

The guy who basically became the "father" of the Road Runner gave a lecture at the Nats a few years ago and he related how he kept a large portrait of a young girl on the wall behind his desk.  He referred to her as "Miss Road Runner" and whenever anyone came into his office with something they wanted to add or remove from his pet project his response was always the same.  "Okay, but first you have to convince me that your idea is going to help my Road Runner buyer get this girl to go out with him".

JB400

That might be true from the corporate side, but what sold the public was a dirt cheap price tag for a big block and a horn that goes "beep beep".  Kinda like the 12 notes of dixie and an 01 on a charger.  Pop culture goes a long way.
