Touring through the SW United States and I have been stopping at salvage yards along the way.  Some of you may recall me asking you about any you knew about a week or so ago.

Anyways, I stopped at a few places today and thought I would share the pics with you folks.  Nothing really special but it just amazes me how well these cars are preserved in this part of the country.

And a few more!

And a couple more.

I will be visiting Hidden Valley and Desret Valley in the next few days.  I'll post more as I get 'em 'cause I know you guys love the pics, as do I!

Wiat til you run into a group of muscle cars that were used as test crash cars cause someone got hurt in one. You will know when you see the test crash markings. Last time I was in Desert Valley auto, they had 10 '69 Chargers that were test crashed all together. And, they can not sell them whole cause of AZ. law. It will make you wanna cry.

That must have been very interesting, and sad at the same time!

TruckDriver

Especially because it was only a 10mph test crash. They only needed the front valances, front bumpers, grills, and a hood. One was a 4psd R/T too. That was sad. They had just got them in a few days before I saw them, and they weren't picked over yet. All a easy resto, but they couldn't sell  them. They had 10 '68 Cameros too like that. But the were smashed harder. I saw 2 RS's in that group.

Sounds like I should put aside plenty of time for that trip!

Cool pics, Shakey. That looks like it was a warm, dry boneyard to visit. ;D

Interesting bumpersticker too. :icon_smile_tongue:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Shakey, just for your information, if you kneel down in the sand to look at something, look first, I almost kneeled on a scorpion. Also watch for snakes & black widow spiders hiding in the shade. They have a saying out there about coral snakes. Red and yellow, deadly fellow... black and red, your dead. And of course you know about rattle snakes. I also seen some BIG king snakes, but they look and act like rattle snakes, but they are harmless and just eat rodents. And the spiders get big out there. Wolf spiders are big & scary looking, but only eat insects. I lived in Pheonix for a while and was taught that stuff.

I do believe that coral snakes that are red and black stripes touching each other aren't harmful. The red that touches yellow are the ones you need to look out for.

Does anyone have any pictures of these crash test cars? Would be a good set of 10 cars to add to the registry.

Thanks for scaring the shit outta me before I even get there!   :-\

Actually I appreciate the heads up.  I have toured through a few yards in the SW and am always looking and listening where I step.  I am not keen on opening doors, trunks or hoods but it just has to be done.

I encountered the spider deal in NM last summer.  I was removing an inner fender shield and had to clear away some spider webs to get at the bolts.  I looked down at my hand an saw something that wasn't quite right.  I had about 100 - 200 baby spiders crawling all over my hand.  They were so small, a bit bigger than a grain of sand, but man could they move around quickly.  I got those bad boys off my hand and kept working away.  Well, it was 104F, I was sweatin' my ass off and took a minute to stretch.  That's when I noticed mama spider in her web about 3" from my head.  She had the body that was about the size of a small hacky sack.  I jumped up, shit my pants found a piece of metal and sent her back to God.  It was then that I looked down and noticed the fire ants on my shoe and ankle.  I had about 50 of those fierce little creatures crawling all over my shoe and I quickly god rid of those buggers.  I am told I was lucky I was not bit by any.  A few days later in TX I was with the owner of a yard and we were just standing there shootin' the breeze and he told me to wipe the ants of my leg.  They waste no time in climbing on board.

I just got back from meeting with my customer and he tells me that we pretty much covered everything today so I am free for Friday.  He knows I want to go hunting for parts so we got everything looked after today.  We did talk about going to the PGA event but he said we can do it next year.

I'll keep my eyes open for wildlife on Friday and share some pics with you guys tomorow night.

Heading out for dinner now.  Maestro's Ocean Club -  :drool5:

Great pics Shakey, I remember a few yard out there from when I use to visit my Dad. There was one in Socorro NM that use to have tons of good stuff in. Another one I remember was in Springerville AZ that had alot of good stuff. If your near those towns check them out. Theres still some good finds out there but most of the good stuff is gone.

BigBlockSam

thanks for sharing the pictures Shakey and keep them coming. i could look at them all day. Rene

Where was the Coronet 500 at?  Would love to go see it.

Just got back from one of the most awsome bars in the world.  http://www.azeats.com/sapporo/default.htm

There were Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Hummer's, Viper's, Benz's, Bentley's all parked outside.  A lot of folks in town for the PGA golf event.  The silicone in the bar was just amazing,  Never seen anything like it.  Wish I had brought my camera for you guys and my friends.  Words do not do it justice.  Never seen so many amazing broads in one place.  Vodka and soda all night.  My customers drink of choice.  Could barely keep up.  He's got 15 years on me.  I was plastered.  I loved it.  He left me there.  I am back in the hotel.  I am going to sleep.  I will visit salvage yards in the morning,  I will share pics.

I will answer the other questions in the morning before I go.

Good night.

NO.  Red touches black, venom lack.  Red touches yellow, kills a fellow.  Don't try to argue with me, I was a huge animal buff when I was younger, especially reptiles and marine animals.

Snakes with the red and black bands touching are just harmless King snakes.  The Coral snakes have yellow bands touching black.  An interesting side note, the Coral Snake is closely related to the Cobras of Africa and India.
