I got a few Officers in the family, and I just love how "Badass" talking some of those comments are. When they know full and well if they even thought about trying to lay hands on an officer, they'd be laying in the street crying like a baby like this idiot. Do as your told, and you won't be tased. Simple...

Couldnt agree more, unless the guy was selling the stuff if he had just been straight with the officer from the get go, and he really didnt have much...chances are he would have gotten a ticket and sent on his way.

Im not sure if that was directed at me or not.  But reguardless...........

You comment is exactly what I find wrong and disturbing with the video.    "they'd be laying in the street crying like a baby like this idiot. Do as your told, and you won't be tased. Simple..."

A police officers job is to uphold the law. Not be judge and jury.
As citizens we have rights. When the time comes that we must blindly follow what the "system" tells us to do, that is the point when all is lost.

I watched the video a few times.  From what I see the Cop gets aggrovated that the man is taking to long to empty his pockets.  So he pulls the taser and takes an aggressive stance and begins saying
things like "pull it out or Im going to pop you with it".

If he has no patience and/or cant think of another option other than to tase this man AND almost get him killed......
He simply should NOT be an officer.

My feeling is this.  If you have the power to tell me what to do and you have the power to detain me against my will.  Then my life is your responsibility.
Even if Im a retard, and EVEN if I deserve it, you better be Fu#ki&g smart enough and responsible enough to get me to my destination unharmed.
At the simplist level, Because that is your oath and your job.

What if your son, your brother, your friend got tased over something simple and ended dieing as a direct result of a police officers bad judgement?  How would you feel about that?

Ultimately I think the driver is a moron. And I think that had he have pulled the stuff out of his pockets sooner he woudnt have gotten tased.
But thats not my point. The officer tased him like 5 times, almost gets him killed in the road and Im still not sure for what.

Anyway Thats me, flame away!

the guy on the highway stated he didn't have any drugs or weapons, then he starts pulling shit out of his pockets, the officer didn't know what else he was going to do.  he couldn't follow the simple directions the officer told him then started to run away.  I guess it would of been better to start a high speed chase and possibly kill SOMEONE ELSE KILLED and cause untold property damage just to protect a convicted felon from getting tazed because he couldn't do what he was told.

Nope, wasn't directed at anybody but the idiot that said he'd "beat that cops ass", or something like that.

You asked if it were one of my own family? Well, I look at it this way...If they were so stupid that they didn't comply (Like the "Gentleman" in this video) then they deserved everything they got. You are gonna tell me that it is the cops job to protect people from themselves? Yeah, good luck with that one.

Sure, I possibly could try and jump on the "Sue the hell outta the cops because my idiot cousin or whatever can't follow directions and got himself/herself tazed and fell into on coming traffic" Lawsuit, but that's what I believe is wrong with this country right now...Too many bleeding hearts for idiots.

How many times did the cop YELL at that idiot to move away from oncoming traffic? I counted at least twice, maybe more. Hell, it's a STATE LAW in Va. now you are REQUIRED to move to the other side of the road and SLOW DOWN when you see and officer with someone pulled over. It's because of idiots that hit cops on the side of the road that WEREN'T tazed..

I know better than to stand that close to on coming traffic, refuse the officers orders, then basically, DARE him to taze me...But, then again, that's just me.
You say maybe he was "Retarded" and the cop should have protected him from himself? Last I checked, they don't let "Mentally handicapped" folks drive themsleves around because well......I guess they'd act like this idiot.
It certainly is easy to play "Monday Morning Quarterback" when you haven't had to deal with idiots out there that do the STUPIDEST things.

1. There's a reason one doesn't walk down a street in South Central LA with a sign on with the "N" word on it. READ: STUPID Sure, you have the "Right" to do it, but it is STUPID none the less.
2. Drive 150 MPH down the interstate. STUPID, but you have the "Right" none the less.
3. Walk down certain streets in LA Gang territory with the wrong color on. STUPID..But it's your "Right" none the less.
4. Walk into a "True" Biker bar and walk right up to the biggest one in there and say something bout his ol lady. STUPID, but your "Right" none the less.

Had my cousin tell me about a call one time he was sent on.....
An off duty officer witnessed a possible drunk driver weaving all over the road. Radio'd in to my cousin as he was on duty, to follow this guy home and check it out. Officer(Cousin) pulls up in front of the house with lights blaring(No siren), stops, gets out, walks up to front door, knocks on door, and gets no answer. Meanwhile the garage door is up, suspects car is running in the garage, radio BLARING. Knocks on front door about four times, again, no answer. Finally, he sees movement inside the house. Officer(Cousin) remembers that he MUST be heading for a side door right? Walks around to the side of house and out comes this idiot with a pistol in his hand....Officer(Cousin) tells him to drop the weapon NOW!.

Wanna guess what kind of STUPID move this idiot made? Sho nuff, he begins to demand he has a "Right" to "Defend" his home....WTF????
Officer(Cousin) demands he put down the weapon again, or he's taking one in the chest. Dude finally lays the gun down. For a split second though, my cousin told me he could see it in dudes eyes he thought about firing....After it was all over, Cousin is sitting on the curb outside talking with dude and tells him "You know how close you came to getting shot?"

Wanna guess what stupid sh*t came out of this guys mouth then?  Yep, "I still got a right to defend my house"...Cousin asks him "You heard me clearly state "police officer" when I knocked on the door four times right? Don't tell me you didn't, because I saw you move around to the side door..Your gonna sit there and tell me you didn't see my crusier sitting out there with all those lights blaring?"
Now, lemme tell you what I think happened and you tell me if I'm wrong...
"I think you thought somehow I could write you for DUI AFTER the fact, and you figured for a split second you might shoot things out with me. You might be drunk, and not thinking clearly, but you had to know that I couldn't do anything to you as I got to your house AFTER the fact and didn't see you driving right? I mean, afterall, you know your rights and all right?"

THIS is what kind of idiots are voting, living next door, and generally suing McDonalds for spilling hot coffee on their crotches. I don't know bout YOU, but I haven't seen a $3 million crotch on a woman...EVER...

Am I saying that ALL cops are "Good"? Certainly not, but I damn sure see an idiot for what he/she is and this guy was just plain lucky that the good lord above along with that truck driver, saw fit to leave him here to commit more crimes.
Only saving grace is one fine day, he will run out of luck and the rest of the god fearing, police obeying, taxpaying, citizens will be rid of his dumass.

Geeee  you know what I find so funny about some of the above posts from some of these guys above......    Here it is.....

As a retired(2009) Highway Patrol Officer here in NY, when I pulled over the asshole's for various traffic infraction's, they 99% of the time kissed my Azzzz while I had them pulled over and BEGGING me to let them off on a warning. These were the tough Guys like the couple above this post of mine that are here talking all kinds of B/S.

The video demostrate's the typical As*hole Motorist's who know's everything yet as the Officer ask's him several time's to move away from the road he wants to be a tough guy and almost gets his Azzz run over. Personally Officer's are here for public safety, not public stupidity or babysitting. If this Guy had been run over, Oh then it was the cop's fault, right? Yeah well wrong. His fault for acting like a typical As*hole and being disrespectful towards the Officer.

He Tasered him and did him a favor. Who the hell is he to not comply to a lawful order?  We as Officer's have to play Doctor, Mommy, Daddy, Psyscologist, Babysitter, Referee, Life Saver and most of all, allow People to, for no reason, be disrespectful, nasty and rude because they feel like the Officer should take it.  Not me, talk to me disrespectful on or off the job, we have a problem, Period.

As far as the comment about being to fat and having to Taser someone.....  I am 6'2 240 and trust me, I never needed to Taser anyone my Friend and I can run like hell!! Talk like Men, not like Hater's.

How could the cop be sure that the guy wasn't just running back to the cab of his truck to get a pistol?   It wouldn't be the first time somebody did that.

The guy brought the zapping on himself = he brought the unintended consequences of the zapping on himself.

I for one am always respectful towards Officers of the law. I don't envy them their jobs, it can't be easy. Plus I find it annoying when the police force is constantly being attacked by the public and civil rights activists for so called mishandling of citizens when they are really only doing their job to the best of their ability.
I say more power to you. Compliance and respect goes a long way.

With all due respect I think you need to take a deep breath and step back a bit.  To begin with, I believe that your line of work is a highly admirable thing that few people have the capability or the courage to do, and I thank you and your brothers and sisters for your work and sacrifice.  With that being said, it's important to keep in mind that "serving and protecting" applies to everyone, not just the innocent.  I am not an officer of the law, I am not trained in their techniques, but even a layman such as myself knows that there are policies that direct officers to not allow the lives of anyone, whether they be innocent, criminal or otherwise to come into harms way above all costs.  Unfortunately, I do not think that tasering a man adjacent to rush-hour, 18 wheeler traffic is a tactically smart or safe thing do to; it's mere LUCK that idiot driver did not get steam rolled by the semi truck.

Now the question could be asked, "Gee Myk, then what the f**k would you have done if you had been there?"   Again, I do not claim to be trained or knowledgeable in police tactics, but in my unprofessional, untrained opinion I maybe would have allowed the idiot driver to run.  Why?  Well where is he going to run to?  He can either run around his car and the patrol car in circles till he gets caught, or gives up upon discovering how much of an idiot he is.  If during this attempt to escape he falls into oncoming traffic well.........it would be on the idiot driver because he chose to run instead of surrendering himself to the law.  When someone is tased they don't have much of a choice-they're going down at the point they are struck with the taser, and the officer should have acknowledged the potential danger of falling down into oncoming traffic.

Take a look at police car chases for example.  Over the years it's become the policy to not follow as closely and not pursue as aggressively.  Why?  Because to do so would increase the risk of property and damage, casualties or even death.  If police cars in chases have to exercise care and caution when handling a criminal then it should apply to officers on their feet as well, and they have to take into account the possibility of casualties on ALL sides.

Please do not mistake me for a bleeding heart liberal that believes criminality should be rewarded by the over-sympathetic tendencies of an over-compassionate society, but there have to be smarter, safer ways of dealing with situations.  Someone made the comment that basically said that this weed carrying idiot-driver didn't need such strong action against him.  Well, I would also say that this weed carrying idiot didn't need to be laid out in front of rush hour traffic either.  Now, is it possible that the officer felt that his life was threatened and he felt he had no choice?  Possibly, I wasn't there, and I'm not a trained officer, but he is one,  and I like to think that a professional, trained officer has more options in these situations.  Again, men and women of the law do not misunderstand me; I wish you all to be safe as you continue to protect us all...God Bless...
