who would you NOT sell it to?  Or is there anyone?  And I know there are some obvious ones but are there some not so obvious ones?

charger_fan_4ever

You mean like your best friend ect ?

When selling a car sometimes I just get rubbed the wrong way. Don't know the guy from a hole in the ground, but some just give me that instant feeling instead of negotiating how about i add 30% so you leave.

If i have put firm on price in the ad and i get someone that shows up and thinks he knows the car better than i do and offers $1000 less I usually say how about I add $1000 to the price and then i'll come down a $1000 will that make you feel better ?

I would not sell it to a studio working on a new Dukes of Hazzard movie.

Bottom line is when something's for sale, you are offering it to the highest bidder. Sure you hate to see it "jumped", Crashed, torn up, etc., but in the end, you agreed on a price and if there's enough money, you WILL sell it to anybody.

Only thing that bothers me about selling mine is the fact that I might have to see it being driven around by someone else if bought nearby. Would be hard, but not impossible.

Great topic, Ghoste.
The new owner would really be free to do whatever they wanted with it, after all it would be their car now.
Having said that...
I would really hope that if the day ever came the next owner would just appreciate & care for the car the way I do.

Last car I sold was my daily driver PT Cruiser. I kept it very nice & clean, but I really didn't care where it went next. Turned out a friend of mine bought it from me. I was open & honest about what it needed, and what had been done to it maintenance-wise. He appreciated that I took good care of it. I saw it last night, he keeps it super-clean & it actually looked better than when I sold it to him.

Take the highest bid. I tried to be nice and practically gave  my 68 Charger 10 years ago to my neighbor who wanted it for years. He kept it a few weeks then sold it and bragged about how much money he made from it.
Not long after that I gave away FREE a 67 dodge charger that was about 65% complete. I told they guy I gave it too I would like to know how progress was going on the car. I never heard from him again.

Gordon, you are a nice man. Don't let the world turn you cynical. Keep the faith.

As far as selling cars and parts...

I'm getting to the point where I'm about to say:

Insure it and burn it. :flame:

Too many assholes out there think their name is Rick Harrison and the world is their pawn shop.

Don't really care as long as my price is met AND I DON'T EVER HAVE TO SEE IT AGAIN.
The wife sold her pristine corvette to someone local so she still sees it on occasion and it hurts her every time. It's not being looked after, the interior in particular is looking pretty ratty now.  :'(

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

I agree if my price is met then fine take it then do what you want with it....unless we have an emotional contract involved.

As much as I would like the next owner to take care of the car it's none of my business what he or she does with it.  I'm with the others here though, I really don't want to see it again if I have to sell it.

I visited the previous owner of my car not long ago, it was a nice Saturday morning and he still had a few parts for me.  Nothing I really needed but he told me when he sold it that he'd love to see it from time to time so I figured I'd make him happy so I turned into his driveway with the Charger after cleaning it top to bottom.  He was very happy to see it again, looking better than when he sold it to me.

I'd like my car to be AT LEAST TWO states away.

some people just irk me. Low ballers are the worst. Like one of you said, too many saw pawn stars and think they're gonna get it for half price. Let me know how that works out for ya. I remember once i was selling a car, just a 76 dodge aspen /6 car, but it only had 34k on it. minimal rust, which was amazing considering it was a aspen. i wanted 800, because thats what the market would bear. a kid came up, said he'd take it and handed me a check.......for $300. i asked if he forgot the price was 800 then went into the bickering about how big of a pos it was, so i tore up the check. he came back later and said he'd give me 800. i told him his price was 2500 now. cause he's an ass. I sold the car a week later to a someone else for my asking price.

wouldnt want to sell to any family. then they think there is a mechanic attached to the car for as long as they choose to own it. :yesnod:

Very true.  I 'sold' my old Ford to my sister when I left Europe.  By that time the car was 12 years old but in great shape and fully loaded.  Her 'mechanic' friend decided to repaint it though so it's now almost 6 years later, I never saw a dime and the car was taken by the police because the morons left it on the street without license plates and half the parts missing.   ::)

I would agree on a fair price with a friend of mine, then let him sell it through his shop for a commission. That would keep my emotions out of the equation when negotiating price. He'd know what I'd be willing to take but also know that the more of the asking price he got, the more he'd make.

Old Moparz

I wouldn't sell mine to halpag.

They'd smear it orange, yahoo it up in an ad with ALL CAPS, then trick the next person into thinking they sell unrusted & bondo free cars.

The last car I sold was my Challenger a few years ago. It went to Europe so I doubt I will ever see it again. For me that was the best way to let it go.
Took this pic as it was heading to the port. The buyer had to wait 4 months to see it....

Even if yours would travel that far, you'd still have all the merchandise rubbing it in!
