How many are going to the Mopar Nationals? Are you bringing your car?

chargerboy69

I am guessing you will find more people here going to Carlisle than to Nats.

The track is a dump, located in the middle of nowhere.  I used to go every year, but until they decide to move it to a decent location, I will stay away.

going to both unfortunately......and I only say that cause I hate the drive! :rotz:

Not going there anymore.  The lack of organization and the take it or leave it attitude from the people who run it made me decide to leave it for good.  We are in Milwaukee and the Nats are half the travel distance for us compared to Carlisle, but the extra expense and time is well worth the effort.

Every year I go for a shorter amount of time. Last year I only made it for about 4 hours and that's only because I had to pick up parts. It's a neat show and there are lots of cool cars but it's ridiculously disorganized and overrun by maniacs in golf carts. Plus, it's generally HOT in August in Ohio and the show is split by a giant asphalt track so you get to walk 20 miles to see everything while slowly melting.

I'm going as its only a 1/2 hour drive for me.

Although I have always been a big supporter of the Nats I have to admit the golf cart thing is one of my pet peeves.  Especially when they are driven by a couple of kids, or some guy from another swap meet space with the two way radio running aorund as fast as possible to scoop other venders deals to take back to their spot like a damned yard sale freak, or a someone who is visibly pissed if they have to steer the cart to go around a walking participant.  Rant 2 and 3 are doubled whenever hte dudes on the cart are musclebound jocks who obviously work out all the time (and you can't walk today??).

If there was a car show version of the TV series "COPS" it would be called the "NATS".

We are going again this year and will bring the Charger. Its a long haul for us, but we always seem to have a good time there.
I agree with others have said, but there is a lot of good stuff to do and see also.

I am, & Yes (Daytona, in the OEM Certification class).  Last time I took a vehicle there was 2005.

There'll be three forum members' Daytonas in the same area for a while, so I don't want to take all the blame for making you stop by.

But the real question is: will any of them actually *drive* more than the length of the trailer?  :nana:

Secondary question: will you car be sporting its tire diapers? If I could manage to get up early enough in the morning to see them still on the car it would be worth the trip just to get pictures!  :pity:

My dad and I will be going to both. Carlisle is about 5 hours from us (Cleveland), and the Nats is about 2.5 hrs from us. The Nats is a zoo, its hot, and the golf carts are nuts, but its the first Mopar show that we ever went to after buying the 68 back in 1998, and weve never missed a year since, so the Nats is more like a father/son tradition. Carlisle is also fun as well, but weve only been going to that for 3 years now...looking forward to both.

Not yet, unfortunately.  I haven't had time to do an update to the restoration thread with all the gory details, but it is inching along.  Next week, I'm taking the windshield back up.  The instrument cluster is back, so within a week or so afterward, the interior should be together and ready.  The engine is going back in this week, but there will be a ton of detailing and other work as time goes along.  Then comes the final go-back-over-everything push which will last probably until a few minutes before the car goes on the trailer.  I'd LOVE to have one of these show prep deals NOT be a chinese fire drill, but they always end up that way.   :brickwall:
