I just remembered, we came across that guy that has the black 68 that he's claiming is the original Bullitt car. While it is a nice car, I'm not convinced of his story.

I saw that too in the Nats flyer.  I thought none survived.  :shruggy:  And then this guy just happens to have one.  ::)

He better have a picture of him with Steve McQueen and the cars vin on the set of the movie, all in the same picture, or I am not buying it.

I asked him what kind of documentation he had that might show it was legit, and he quickly said "Nobody has any documentation on the car".

Went on Friday. Saw Brain at the Mopar Action Tent. Nice lemonade stand!  Spent about 3 hours in the swap meet Sunday. Got a set of ceramic headers for a winter project. Met Dan Woods  from Cut ,Chop and Rebuild.

Got the new front disks on my sons '70 along with new front tires and wheels in time for the weekend.  Did the RT. 79 stuff Friday and Saturday night.  Couple of side by side Father/ Son burnouts then we parked and watched the fun from the Tumbleweed lot.

In spite of the rain , had a good time. Crowds seam to be less then years before.

Benji

Some poor sap wrecked his blue Duster while drag racing it.  He was apparantly okay as he exited the car through the passenger door and walked up to the front of the car.  He took one look and squatted down with his hands folded behind his neck and looked really bewildered.  I'm wondering what he told his wife.  ;D

There was a guy there yesterday in a blue duster that spit parts through the oil pan during the burnout contest.

Thanks, guys!  I'm relieved and about ready to collapse now that I'm back home.  A gruelling stretch over the past several days... and even though I only really got stressed a couple of times (such as when John Antonelli calls me just as we're starting to change out tires/rims while at a photo shoot 5 miles away, to tell me that they're holding up the start of the awards ceremony because I wasn't there  :scared:  ), it was simply a lot of work.

While my car may have been given the B.O.S. award, I would (personally) not have been surprised at all if one of the other Daytonas or even the Gibson-restored HemiCuda won.  There were some high-quality cars at the show.

Probably no MMW in my future this year.  It's possible I'll attend a Kansas City indoor show in October, and MAYBE the MCACN show at Rosemont in November.  That's all the budget & time will allow, and we'll see if they happen at all.

You, on the other hand, know right where my shop is... c'mon by some time if you'd like.

Remember last year I talked with you about a World-Of-Wheels type show?  Has that been cancelled?  Maybe it was the year before that when I tried to make it over there.  Reason I'm interested in that, is because Owner #1 and Owner #2 are both still living around there and think they could attend.  THAT would be cool.  If Davtona can make it there too, all 4 (titled) owners of the car will be in one place with the car.

I'll have to do some more checking.

Thats unfortunate that he is doing that.  The car is a cool car and the circumstantial evidence makes you stop and think but that is all he has got, CIRCUMSTANTIAL evidence.  If he insists its the real deal long enough it will soon become fact to the public at large.
