At first I was like.... How did I miss that thread. Then I realized it was from 2007.

Sweet ride. Can't imagine many cars with that many options were produced.  :popcrn:  :drool5:

[edit] - Ah, just got through the previous thread and it is a Dealer Demo car which explains the plethora of options.

That is one highly optioned car !!!!! :2thumbs: I'm certainly not trying to pick it apart by any means, but there are a few little items that I find odd during a resto of a car of such caliber that I think are incorrect and would make it that much more over the top of a car if they were fixed.
Short bumperettes ????   the car is built 423
70 style sway bar brackets ???
cruise control bracket painted body color ?????
Grill support top painted glossy ????
Misssing the power steering cooler  ???
Hood hinges not being body color  ????   Maybe I'm wrong on these but they jump out at me.

To name what I can see, easy fixes to make this more accurately correct, again not picking it apart, just doing a resto on a car like this, would have gotten those areas correct.

1BAD68

Just wondering what the fascination for options is all about?
Only because when I think 'muscle car' I think of bare bones horse power (A12 Bee's and 68 Hemi Darts are perfect examples)
When I think power windows, cruise control, etc. I think of Cadillac's and big luxury boats.

Hi there,
I am the owner of the car. It does have the power steering cooler on it. As far as the other "incorrect" items it's just my personal taste. Hood hinges were painted stainless steel color as I felt there was too much orange.

About the only thing I see that this car does'nt have is a luggage rack and rocker moldings!!!!!! And maybe locking gas cap.

Could'nt see the power steering cooler in the pics.Cause they do repo it now.Did you do the sway bar or was it like that ????I know alot of members that have 69's hit the problem of the welded fact style sway bar brackets/bushings that are crushed from the years.I made a stamp setup to repo the straps on those brackets, look exactly like factory, with the only thing being they need to get welded up as factory.

I think you answered your own question.  Kinda cool to see all the stuff that someone could have put on there but usually wasn't.

One of my fav options in my car is the power windows, being able to roll them all up or down without moving, pulling over, etc is a plus.Especially when they all work !!!LOL

ChargerST

Anyone noticed these steering linkage splash shields? Are these factory (they seem to follow the contour of the frame rail perfectly)? Never seen them on a Mopar before...

69 OUR/TEA

It's a starter splash shield ,just one,on driv side.

My lust was for a real 3x9 69 R/T,when I found my car, 3x9 R/T SE stripe delete for sale and loaded with options, pretty similar to the one in topic with the exception of sunroof and cruise control,I was'nt gonna wait for another one to pop up.

Yea, but I don't recall that form fitting hard plastic design being factory.

How do you know its plastic? They were metal, unless that is a repo,in plastic. The ones I have are metal originals.

paironines

Yep they are metal. All Chargers came with them and they were commonly removed by service techs and thrown away.

Correct, I don't, Just assumed.  :icon_smile_blackeye:  I also thought that they were simply rubber or some other flexible guard not nice and form fitting like that. Recall pics of that somewhere too.  :shruggy:

FWIW, 4-speed cars did not get them.  The shield was to protect the AT linkage, not  the starter... hence no need for the shield on manual transmission cars.

I've had them on two of my 68s and I swear they were plastic. They were riveted to the frame I believe. I don't have them around any more to check. Could they have changed the design over the years? The other "access covers" are metal.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Dino

I have one on mine, pretty sure it's metal but I'll have to check to make sure.

Those are the K frame splash shields.  And yes, they get attached to the rail by two large headed pop rivets.

As said before, not technically a starter shield as it was meant to prevent water from splashing up onto the automatic trans linkages and freeze in winter.
