Oil Change question

I've never used the 15w40. It was a few bucks more then the 10w40 and I don't drive the car in the winter. The 20w50 caused waaaayyyyy too high oil pressure. It pegged my 100 lb oil pressure gauge. Even the 10w40 has to warm up before I cruise. With my oil cold it will get way too high on the gauge until I'm up to operating temp

That's really interesting. I don't have that problem with mine. My oil pressure is perfect with the 20w-50.

It all depends on how tight your engine is. My tolerances were very tight. I wind my engine up around 7k so I wanted everything close. I put it together in 2000 and its held up with no work other then oil changes and a carb upgrade.

My oil pressure has always been pegged although it does have the high pressure spring in it and I also run 20w-50 VR1 synthetic in it now.  Is there any problems with having that much oil pressure in the system?

Using the 20w-50 B.P. my oil pressure by start up goes up to 80. Once warmed up and driving at speeds of 62mph it sits at 65.

Im confused, how does high oil pressure rob horse power?  I know the thicker weight oil does but high oil pressure?

Think of it like this. Grip a peice of pipe gently in your hand and spin it. Then grasp it firmly and spin it again. The resistance to spin it is greater. Same principle for each and every bearing surface in your engine

imagine pushing air through a pipe , then change to water , then change to tar  it takes a lot more power to push tar through the same hole than water or air

ok, I understand now.  I could imagine if I were trying to get every single ounce of horse power out of my engine for racing and such but right now I would rather have more pressure knowing that oil is certainly getting up to every part of my engine that needs it and sacrifice a couple hp here and there.
