The FDC claims it's ineffective and possibly harmful. But I personally know 3 people who have done it and each lost 30+ pounds and kept it off. Any testimonials?

Snake oil. I'd imagine the weight loss was from the other things they were doing, and not the HCG that was added on to the diet/exercise routine.

I tried the SSYF diet for 9 months and lost 80 lbs. SSYF stands for Stop Stuffing Your Face.

Not sure which one this is.  I've been on the Dukan diet for 3 weeks now and lost almost 20 lbs.  Been working out also.....

500calories a day.  Wow.   Let me ask you this, do you work for a living?  Or do you sit at a desk?

I'm guesing you are leaning towards trying it.

I been on the seefood diet...................its not working though............

One co-worker went on it and did it in two steps over the course of about 6 months... I don't know how much she actually lost but it was quite a bit.

On the same note another co-worker went on a total liquid diet only drinking things like water, fruit juices, tomato juice and he's lost 50 pounds in 4 weeks. Started out at 312 and yesterday he said he was down to 260.

Has anyone seen the documentary "Fat, sick, and nearly dead" ? It's about liquid diet. A very neat documentary- Netflix has it watch instantly.

You might find yourself reaching for vegetable juice a little more often.

i know a couple people that did it and it worked. but you tell me any diet that wouldnt work when you only eat 500 calories a day. dad gum, 1 fast food burger can go over 500 calories. thats less than 10 points on weight watchers where a guy 250 can have 35 points. and lose weight. plus the ones on hcg say they are so weak they have no energy. the diet even says not to exercise. :shruggy:

Didn't work for me either so I went off it and just decided to eat what I want!!  :D

Very true, eat only 500 calories a day and you could lose weight on a cake & ice cream diet.  That's starving yourself no matter what the food is.

IMHO there's a pretty clear pattern of weight loss and timeframe.  The more gradually you lose it, the more likely it is to be permanently gone.

Ah this diet.  A friend did it and lost close to 40 lbs in 6 weeks.  It was absolutely crazy though on the 500 calorie aspect.  He did wind up keeping 25 of them off in a 6 month period.

Check out the Dukan diet due to eating the right foods versus the amount.

HCG is NOT the "miracle" a lot of people think it is..

What it IS good for, however, is shedding that "spare tire" that you just can't shake after months of hard core dieting... The HCG actually helps target areas where stubborn fat sticks around..

A friend of mine toned down 25+ lbs.. He looked great, yet he could NOT lose the handles on the side... Needless to say, the HCG was the advantage he needed.

I burn almost 2000 calories a day. My intake is 1500-1800/day. Needless to say, fat doesn't stick around long these days.

Two words for a diet that works... South Beach.

South beach.   Definately a good place to start.

OK, Wife and I went ahead and tried it, and:
- I Dropped 31lbs in 39 days (225 to 194)
- Yup, it is 500 calories a day, but I never experienced ravenous hunger, dizziness, or weakness
- Pants went from 38's to 34's  waist measurements from 44 to 38 1/2 (total 28.75 inches of body fat lost)
- Overall while not what I'd call fun, like that cake and ice cream diet mike mention, it is doable and relatively painless
- If HCG is snake oil or a placebo it is a very effective placebo...scale and tape measure don't lie

We have another 5 weeks of maintenance to slowly ramp up our normal calorie intake to maintain the new weight (one thing I believe this diet does right) My goal is 180-185. Not sure if I'll do another HCG round or just go conventional but no doubt this method gave me a real head start.

I'm NOT saying this is THE diet for everyone but I will say it does work and ya' might want to give it consideration  :Twocents:

Good for you.

I mentioned the Ducan Diet above and to date, I've lost 30.  Boy do I feel better!

Ducan was by far the easiest diet I ever tried.  It's not how much you eat, but what you eat.  Tonight a big juicy flank steak!

I lost 40+ lbs about 16 years ago & quit smoking cold turkey at the same time.   Wife & I did the Weight Watchers thing...took me about a year to get that amount off.....slow & steady.  Its all about portion control & will power....which I will admit is not for everyone

16 years later I am only 10-15 lbs heavier than I was at my lightest which was 165 (which I looked real skinny & didnt like the way I looked)

All I do now Is pretty much watch my calorie intake, run on the treadmill & my latest exersize of choice...pull-ups....yes I still have a little flab here & there but I am comfortable having only a 4 pack instead of a six.....lately the beers have been flowing pretty regularly around these parts and I have been drinking the extra 2 packs that I am missing off my abs ;)

Congrats on the weight loss for the both of you (how did your wife do? ) I know in my wifes case losing weight is way harder for her...

Thanks for the kind words. Wife dropped 27 during the same period so it was just as successful for her.

Ditto on what your saying, watch what you eat, portion size and exercise, a diet is only to fix the mess you put yourself into, you'll get right back there if you don't be careful, especially after 40!

Indygenerallee

My mother has been on Nutrasystem for right at a year and lost 100lbs. I am going to start the first of the month, all your meals are figured up and taste good (I tried a bit of it once) I am 6'8 315 lbs. and I feel like shit! I lost roughly 60 lbs 10 years ago when I went through a divorce, watched what I ate and worked out, but I got lazy and got out of the routine and have slowly gained it all back over the past 10 years.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.
