Rocker blackout

So we post up and look at a lot of these barn find chargers that pop up on ebay. One of the things I try to do is look at the details of the car and relate that back to discussions here that concern the original production of the car. Not so much to make a 1000000000000 point show car but more for a good solid general understanding of what happened to the car and how it rolled off the assembly line. And yes, I do intend to try to pay attention to these details when I put the car back together but I also don't want to get fanatical about it.

One point that I have misunderstood is the black out of the underside of the rockers. I recall some of the restore threads getting into discussions in which I thought the consensus in the end was that this was done to the cars on the line. However, many of these ebay barn find cars don't seem to have this black out???

 is that black showing through the white in the top picture , the ad says it was repainted  

just want to add to this , mine was previously unrestored , all original panels & paint ,  never had any signs of black  on the under side of the rockers /pinch-spot welds    ,
 maybe it flaked off with age , although the charger was 19 years old when i got it , & never had the slightest trace of black 

all the stuff i have read over the years point to blacked out rockers /pinch welds , mine never had it , few things are / were different on mine to the norm , i put it down to being  painted  or built friday afternoon   or monday morning    
infact the SPD was on a friday november the 22nd 68   i know the spd don't mean it was build that day  , but with  the few things i found the factory done different on mine,  perhaps in fact built or started on that day or ... ,

Gah... missed the repaint comment. Barring my poor reading skills there have been other circumstances where this was the case.

I recall Troy having a car or 2 (68s i believe) that did have the blackout..

The pinchweld should always be black imo.  That way you get a nice crisp and clean body color line instead of seeing the damn thing!  Is it original though?  Don't know, but it should have been.

Would the pinch weld area be a textured black like organisol or would it have been just a satin or flat black?  Something that Im going to have to add to my car it seems to be correct!
