Floyd has been gone for 45 years.   He had a stroke during one of the seasons and make a few short appearances in a few shows and that was it.

No, Floyd has been gone for years.  He had a stroke after the second season I believe, after that he was only shown sitting down.

The Andy Griffith Show is my all time favorite TV show.  While on way before my time, I grew up on re-runs.  Andy will definitely be missed.
