theyre living at large...

What, are they like on the lam from the law or something?

Or was that supposed to read, "they're living large"?

'Living at large' implies that they are hiding out for possibly nefarious reasons, whereas 'living large' implies that they are living an extravagant lifestyle.

Just trying to see what point you are making.

saw it on "Engineering Marvels" or one of those show on the Discovery Channel. It's pretty amazing. Still, I couldn't help but think that they still wipe their asses barehanded and do not know what deodorant and soap are, but they must have an indoor ski slope and drive Porsches.

That may explain part of it but the rest is corporate greed.  Exxon posted a $35,000,000,000 (35 Billion) dollor profit last year and that is just one company.  They will keep posting those profits until as long as the American people will let them get away with it.

Been there, it took them I believe 3 weeks to get it from its normal temperature to freezing. And surely the Emirates Mall (which is the base of the skihall) also seems te be the coldest around, these people really like to go from 40+ degrees to 15 degrees in the malls. I always took a sweater with me when we went shopping. Still pretty amazing, didn't ski as I hate the cold so I rather stood outside in 40+ degrees celcius. Much better.

He brought a good bit with him, but a leaking pack was to blame for the loss of some, and he said he really took to reading the newspaper after that.

Couldn't understand a bit of it, but he said it was quite nice to have around anyhow.

you know you can drift a whole lot better in a toyota carola gts  or the japaneese version the sprinter trueno a whole lot easier than you can with a charger.... if thats your goal that is.
i just ment the gass price thing as a joke.
the low down on the gass issue.
first the high prices is just greed, they know there are more drivers on the road every year.
its all supply and demand if they were to drop the prices tomarrow you would not be able to get at the gass pump for weeks and when you finaly do there would be no gass left.
the reson the government isnt stepping is is two reasons.
first when ever they put a price ceeling on something bad stuff happens.
second they want people to buy into the 'green fule' idea. they want people to get into cars with battery assist saying it is good for the environment when they never mention how bad led cell batterys are when they get improperly desposed of.. and for over $3000 every 5 years when those batterys bite the dust and you have to have them replaced professionaly you know people will lern how to "do it them selfs"
the only real solution to having the whole fossle fule thing work and at the same time save some of the american echonomy is to buld more refinerys in the states. ..

I just thought it was a funny caption.

Random Trivia: Jesus & pooping on hands

In the biblical era they think it was considered an insult to the HITTER to hit another person with their unclean left hand.  It was apparently more accepted to only use the right one for an important gesture like that.  I guess they thought classy people should know better.

Well, some historians have argued that when Jesus said "turn the other cheek" he was probably not telling you to help the guy kick your ass more effectively.  He was probably talking about encouraging the person to hit you with his left hand on the next next swing, which would be to HIS shame.

Vainglory, Esq.

That's not the only thing in that passage.  The claim that you should walk the extra mile had to do with the fact that Romans were allowed to press Jews into service carrying their packs for one mile.  Any more was against the law and the Roman would face punishment.  If you went another mile, you were actually able to get your friendly neighborhood Roman soldier in lots of trouble. :yesnod:

something strange happened in town during last night thru this morning: one of the gas stations in town dropped 20 cents in price! $2.42 - $2.22.....and as expected every square inch of parking lot in that place is covered with some piece of a car....

no, some ones reliant-k finaly bit the dust and it was stated in the will that it wanted to be incenerated and have its ashes scattered over the parking lot.
supply and demand my friends good old echon 101.
at a high price less items are sold because not every one can affor or would want to pay that much for that item. companys sell less but the get more for what they sell, thus the less of the product they have to sell to make profit.
vice versa for low price. at low price there is a shortage of the product and at high price there is a surplus. but artifically placed price limitations on an item (price ceeling) keeps the price artifically low thus creating a huge demand that the supply cannot keep up with.... and in the case of the gass pump situation you can think of the supply more as pump space than actuall gass (because most of that sail gass is alcohol any way)
final summation

none
were screwed

Whoever it is that you consider "they" to be, they are not pocketing my money first. In fact, it is my fellow Americans who own the gas companies and who import the gas into the USA who are pocketing my money. My own and your own countrymen, reaping BIG rewards off you and me and then passing some of their profit on to the Middle East. So, while you may be somewhat correct that "they" are pocketing our money, let us not forget that we are being ripped off by Americans first, and that should make you more upset than anything that "they" are making in terms of profit. Secondly, should I judge all Christians by the acts of David Koresh and Jim Jones? Probably not. Thirdly, the "they" that some of you refer to and joke about could very well be one of you, one of us, and even own a Dodge Charger and belong to this forum. Could even be that "they" that you are talking about grew up right here in the good-old-US of A and watched shows like Starsky and Hutch and the Bionic Man when growing up. Could be that "they" have Master's degrees and view such ignorant remarks as being laiden with images of the best of America's white trash. So, because I am Middle Eastern, am I one of them because you stereotype, or am I one of you because I drive a 70 Charger and have had a great deal of the same experiences that each of you have had? With that said, it was threads like these that made me eventually lose my respect for some of the people on the last site. I know that there will be someone who just wants to reply to this and bash me for whatever reason (maybe they feel they're being patriotic), but all I'm saying is that people should really consider what words they are throwing out there and if that is the kind of image you want this site to reflect.
