Restoration Plug wires

HI there
I was looking for some information on restoration style spark plug wires today and saw your site, so I thought I would join and be able to ask some questions.

I have had a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T for almost 30 years and am getting it ready to sell. It has been on blocks in dry storage for the last 12 years and only started about 3 times a year to keep it excersised. I just recently freshened up the stock heads and had everything checked out. I also put in all new gaskets in the 6pack. Now I would like to replace the plug wires which are still from the 70's.

My question concerns the new "restoration style" of date coded factory plug wires which I see are available now. I have always kept that car as original as I could and I would like to use a set of these. The only upgrade I did to the car was in the early 80's when I went to an electronic ignition. (with factory tan distributer cap) Now I see that the ads for the "new" restoration wires say that they are not for electronic ignitions. The wires for the electronic ignition cars from '73 on up are orange in color, and I want to use the original black style.

Do the modern "black restoration style" plug wires hold up to the increased energy output of the electronic ignition upgrade?
Or do they burn through easily?

I figured I would ask someone who is actually running them on an electronic ignition upgrade before I blow the money.
I just refuse to run a plug wire that is not the correct factory color.
Thanks a lot.
And its nice to see a web site devoted to Dodge Chargers.
I will enclose a pict.
Its still an amazingly solid and straight car!

We can help you with a set of stock date coded wires, and they work fine with electronic ignition. See the link below:

Amazing car you have there sir.  It looks like whoever's owned it for the past 30 years or so took extremely well care of it.

Is it an original V code car?
4 gear or 727?

Good for you in trying to keep things like the plug wires correct.  I'm always bewildered when I see a factory correct restoration & someone's used the orange wires.   :scratchchin:  Oh well, it's their car, they can do what they want.

I've sold dozens of the dated  repop wires for use on electronic ignition cars and never one single complaint

Wow
Less than 24 hours and I have all the answers I need!
Thanks so much!!
I thought maybe those repro wires were made in some asian country and were cheaply made with thin insulation or something.

Car has been a wonderful piece. Its a U code R/T, auto, and the 6 pack was on long before I got it. Which is cool because the manifold and carbs are all date coded correct too. And that was way before anybody even cared about that stuff. Has all its original body panals and still very solid and nice. Matching numbers drivetrain still there. Has less than 60,000 original miles. Was very dependable. Originally owned by a woman believe it or not!  I will see if I can dig up another picture or 2.
