Every once and a while I get lucky, and yesterday was one of those days! Wed. night about 11 p.m. I saw a listing on Indy Craigslist for a 97 Dodge Ram 3500 2wd dually extended cab Cummins 12 valve with 100,000 miles FOR $3500!!  :o I called the guy the next morning at 8:45 a.m. and he said he had already had 3 guys saying they were headed to buy it well I head to the bank waited for them to open at 9, grabbed $3500 and headed to Greencastle (only 17 minute drive) He still had it and I was first on the scene, It had been his son's truck and he died from cancer over a year ago and the older gentleman had bought it new then gave it to his son, truck had 134,000 miles!! he had put all 6 new tires on it 2 weeks before he quit driving it (still have the tits on them!) The truck is a loaded SLT Laramie, pulled it out of the barn was dead as a doornail had to jump it with 2 trucks fired right up and ran like a champ, has a gooseneck hitch in bed floor and the worst part of the truck is the paint the truck is whore red and the paint is like bubbled flaking off hood and roof, truck is not rusty like most 97's guy said he had transmission rebuilt at 100,000 miles. Think I am going to tint the windows and paint it flat black and drive the wheels off of it!!! and get 20+ mpg as it has the 3.55 geared Dana 80 axle.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

I won't own any Cummins other than a 12 valve the 98.5-up 24 valves have way too many expensive electronic parts plus the dreaded 53 block on some from 98.5-01 (I had a 99 Cummins that had a cracked 53 block) on those 24 valves if the lift pump goes the injection pump will go bye bye within minute under 10 psi. and your looking at $1600.00 for a Bosch injection pump and $600 for a good Raptor lift pump I will stay with the old 12 valve mechanical injection!!
