orginal engine for 66 ?

How do you tell on the 66 block if it is the original motor ?

after decoding the fender tag and the block the build date on car is 12/7 /1966 but the engine says b383 12 10 which sounds like it was built 3 days after the car .could this still be the original engine ?

The build date on the fender tag is the "scheduled" build date...no guarantee it was actually built on that day, could have been days/weeks on either side of that date.

Thanks thats good to know .I had heard that if it was within ten days it was original but it didnt make sense to build the engine after the car so that clears that mystery up.

rule I have heard is that any part or drivetrain part made up to 3 months before production date would be correct for the car
