hey guys i changed the gear oil in the dana and it appears to be comming out of the top of the case somewhere and leaking back down over the cover. did i over fill it and somehow its comming back out? i put in a little bottle of the limited slip stuff i think its called and damn near 3 quarts of redline. i kept putting it in till it was level with the plug hole. hopefully this is just something that was pure stupidity on my part and will cause no harm.  any ideas? thanks

i didnt even know there was a vent lol. i assume its just a hole on the top?

Chryco Psycho

the vent holds the brake line tee on the axle tube . you didn't over fill it if it is level with the fill hole .
All I can think is the pan gasket is torn or leaking

I agree on the gasket issue...ring gear is throwing oil up to the top and it's getting out between cover & carrier

was the car on jackstands? ive seen a lot of people service the diff with just the rear of the vehicle hoisted and they fill to the plug which will over fill the diff

No it was on the ground. im picking up a new gaskit after work. Should I use any silicone or glue or anything our just tosss it on dry?

I wouldn't even use a gasket....we use "Right Stuff" all the time at work....just make sure the sealing surfaces are dry and oil free so it will adhere without problems
