I'm putting the roof rail weatherstripping on my 68 Charger. It seems too long. Anyone have pics of how it goes on? How much black adhesive do I use to secure it and where do I put it?
Thanks,
Sid

Top o' the  day Sid,

If you're speaking about the long dog leg piece of stainless steel trim it does not get any kind of adhesive put on it to hold it in place (unless it's been spread part so much it won't stay put).
Start attaching this trim at the corner molding of the quarter window. Overlap the corner piece 1/4 - 3/8"' do not begin at the front end!!! You kind of roll the trim in place, top to bottom, by first setting the upper edge of this trim in the rain gutter channel and rolling it down under the gutter. I lightly smacked it with the palm of my hand as I worked it forward along the gutter channel to get it seated under the gutter rail. Be patient and have a helper hold the opposite end of the trim for you so it doesn't whip around and hit the paint or glass....yikes! When you get to the forward end of the trim it should be close but not tight against the corner of the gutter at the pillar post. After the pillar post trim is in place, the small corner trim piece covers both trim ends and you are good to go. This corner piece may require a touch of adhesive if it doesn't snap into place. Be careful with these little pieces......they are made of unobtainium. Good luck and keep us posted.

I think he's talking about the seal between ss trim and windows.  Remove your old seal in one piece, line it up with the new so you can see where it goes.  Use a weatherseal adhesive, I know 3M makes one but others are fine as well.  You don't need to go crazy with this stuff, I usually put down a thin but continuous bead so no water can get between seal and frame.  If it oozes out when installing you've used too much.   :icon_smile_big:

If you can, trim the seal AFTER it is installed.  If you're going to cut it before installing then throw it in the fridge for a while to make sure it's at its shortest.  When warm they will expand a bit but if you cut them equal with the old when warm then they may shrink a bit when cold, losing some of the sealing properties.
