Installing an msd box in place of lean burn

So the lean burn died on me, and I'm going to install a summit racing msd style box.  All the wires are the same as my msd. The question I have is hooking up the small red wire, which according to the directions you hook up to the old coil pos. Wire. With the lean burn I don't believe that would work, so will any switched 12v work?

Yes , there is usually a blue wire to the lean burn which is 12v switched power
