I just don't understand people that commit suicide... Hell I like me too much to do something like that.

He had recent spinal cord surgery and the doctors told him he would get no better. Did not want to be a burden to his wife. They have no kids.
I really liked their early 70's stuff. Welsh and the other guitarist Danny Kirwin really worked well together.

Not trying to be insensitive but...was this guy really that big a deal to merit all the attention his death is getting?  I mean, it's not like anyone other than whatever hipsters were called back then knew who Fleetwood Mac was until the Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham era. Or is his death getting so much attention because of the way it happened?

Would it make you feel better if he said that he wanted to see what it felt like to be Kurt Cobain?  :eek2:

Bob did aim lower though.

for me not a super star. but i did see him in the 70s at folsom field in boulder colorado. had a couple of hits as a solo aritist. but i understand. if i was gonna be a burden and have no life...then i would just a soon have no life. other wise your just exsisting till you die. waiting to die in pain dont sound to fun to me. so thanks for the tunes bob and concert. you had a good life........RIP

His first solo album was on the radio quite a bit in the 70's, I had it on 8-track tape. He probably falls somewhere between being a one hit wonder & a semi successful pop star. I wasn't a big Bob Welch or Fleetwood Mac fan, but they were "okay" until they were overplayed & became annoying on the radio.

By the way, Fleetwood Mac was a good blues/rock band before Bob Welch joined.

Welch was critical to Fleetwood Mac. His years with the band yielded some 3 great albums and some great songs and provided a transition from the Peter Green years to the Buckingham/Nicks years. He was screwed when they didn't include him in the Rock Hall induction.
