Dart towed into town

So i was leaving town after visiting family and made it 15 minutes. All of a sudden there was a clunking/banging noise and i could feel the clunking through the floor pans. It felt like the car was falling apart. I pulled over on the highway and called bcaa. When the tow truck arrived i had to move the car but the noise disappeared. The drive shaft wasnt loose though.

Jacked up the rear of the car and spun the tires by hand one way and it didn't make a noise. BUT if I rocked them back and forth I could simulate the noise and it seemed to be coming from where the pinion yoke.

Here's the sound of us rocking the wheel back and forth:

sorry for the quality a friend's cell didn't want to focus properly.

Now I did have small clunks every now and then shifting the car into revers or drive as well.

I found someone's video of a bad pinion yoke:

That is the sound mine makes when we turn the wheels back and forth and rock the pinion yoke.

Check your U-joints, and go from there.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Pull the cover off the rear (if you have one) & check for some busted teeth....either spider gears or R & P itself...

If its an 8 3/4, just pull the fill plug & go fishing with a magnet for some busted teeth....

It's been narrowed down to the pinion yoke or the rear end as we were fiddling with it today. I don't have any of my tools here although I bought a set of stands so we an least get the entire rear end off the ground.

The rear end is just a 7 1/4 as I dont have a diff for the 8 3/4 yet. So my guess is having to scrape the money together and drop the 8 3/4 in a little early  :brickwall:

Someone fragged a 7 1/4 axle? How the heck did that happen? Didn't Ma Mopar put those behind HEMI cars?

I was trying to frag the thing MONTHS ago back when I was making good money to give me an excuse to put in the 8 3/4. Now that I've been laid off this is a major annoyance

They always seem to let go at the WORST time. Right when you don't need it too.
