After a long delay while the dash bezels were out.
I'm back on it. and the dash assembly is going well. After I perform some wiring pinout ck's and basic component tests that I can do while the dash is out.
Plan is to have it back in the car by weeks end.

Enjoy

One of things I like best about all 3 of the classic Charger genreations is the instrument panel.  They were one of the nicest of all the musclecars for sure but especially that 2nd gen one.

After numerous test fits, I finally got the glovebox liner in.

Boy, I don't know what they used for a pattern, but it sure doesn't fit like I would like it to out of the box

Bill, the glove box cut out for the light isnt even close either.  The original lens I have falls right out as if the hole is way too big for the lens to pop into.

Those repo glove boxes put out serious negative waves. It must have taken me 2 hours or more fighting mine in place and getting all the screws lined up........my lens fell out too. Tacked it in with two tiny dabs of silicon sealer.

Brian,
I sure as heck didn't want to hear that. I'm adding the light pkg to this car and to have a lens rattleing around in the glovebox is un-acceptable.

I have AT LEAST 2 hours just making the glovebox fit reasonably well, it was in and out at least a  half dozen times trimming here and there . You have to be carefull not to take to much off, as the clips in the cardboard are pretty close to the edge as it is. But it's in for the last time.
I replaced the heater control vacuum switch and it's now back in. On my way out now  to pick up some bulbs this morning to starting ck'ing the cluster illumination. I can't wait to see this thing all lit up and glowng If all goes well, the dash assy goes in the car tomorrow afternoon. :popcrn:

Sorry about that Bill.  Shame I did not know about that before other wise I would have said to drill out the hole vs. punching out the precut hole.  It really makes you wonder why most companies that repro stuff don't think things through and make it right the first time vs. wasting all that time and money only to put out a second rate product.

Im leaning towards the glove box as the one that was in there before I restored the interior fit, the new one did not.

Well, I haven't cut the hole yet,,,,,so tomorrow I'll probably  just cut it open with an exacto knife instead of the scribed lines in the panel.

Got all the panel lighting working today and have been  going thru all the harness connections to insure everything is wired like it's supposed to be.
I turned the shop lighting down and then turned the dash lamps on,,,,WOW it looks good .Just a nice even glow across the whole instrument panel.( i went up one lamp wattage rating to help brighten it up ever so slightly )
I tried to get a picture but my camera wouldn't focus in on it with no lighting in the shop.

resq302

Bill, what bulb number did you upgrade to?

194's on the ones with slide in bulbs,, I thought about going up to the 168's but thats a pretty good jump and was afraid that might be to much of a jump and cause heat issues behind the lens,, Originals are 158's
and I stayed with 57's on the twist in bulbs
