Get a set of Johnson lifters. There inexpensive and good quality.

Nacho-RT74

link ?

the problem is, that I DUNNO WHY, every morning when starting up the engine, I get lifters noise for 3 or 4 seconds... using 20W50 Castrol oil... then the rest of the day is fine no matter how many times I crank up the engine.

True I got Elgin lifters, locally

Most current aftermarket hydraulic lifters will work on BB/SB Mopars and AMC's but the original style factory lifters won't...the problem is the location of the oil groove around the lifter. The groove is located higher on the SB lifter so, if the SB lifter is used in a BB, the oil groove will become exposed during maximum lift and dump the oil pressure into the valley.

the spring pressure is collapsing the lifters overnight , so 4-5 lifters have to pump up in the morning , no biggy as long as the pushrods do not drop out

2011 is a Sealed Power number, 2011R is a Speed Pro high-rotation lifter, they fit SB Mopars and AMC.

John_Kunkel

You might be surprised how many lifter manufacturers there actually are (maybe two)....many name brand cams come with reboxed Johnson lifters.

yeap thats what I thought initially, but my oil pressure is dropping out day after day. Only reason I can find right now looks to be associated with damaged lifters ?

finally could send the messagge through toplineauto contact form. Lets see what happens

new email from them... stock replacements are same PN without the R and $1 less. I gave him my cam and springs specs, car useage and told me stock should be enough

but just $16 less for the set is still not cheap :(

Some one correct this if it is wrong. The race lifter will make noise at low rpm due to the bleed down built into the lifter. I am using the small block lifter B2011R, cost $102. They are rock solid. They just make a little noise at idle. I would not get the R lifter again if I had to purchase them all over. Dont need the bleed down with a mild cam. I would get the standard lifter from Topline Hylift Johnson.

And btw Nacho, you may be able to fish the lifters out with a magnet through the openings in the head, instead of having to pull the intake to get them out.

Nacho-RT74

interesting opinion about the use of the standard lifter OR race kind from them... somebody else have more opinions about this ?

yeap, I already though on fishing the lifters with a magnet or something like that.

The other difference on the R lifter is the retainer. The stock type use a wire retainer. The R type is as FLG shows in the picture above.

I went with the R's on my 410 rebuild. They are a bit noisy. I've varied the pre-load from 1/4 to 1/2 to 3/4 turn to no avail. I'm running a Comp XE275HL and I've been told the noise is just a product of the fast lift rate.

Previously I had Comp Cam branded lifters in the motor. The body matched that of the HyLift R, but they had wire retainers. At that time I had an XE274L in the motor. Another fast lift rate came with just less total lift. Same lifter noise issues. Don't remember exactly what I paid for those, but they were more expensive than purchasing direct from Topline.

Nacho-RT74

so your votes are really get the standard piezes ? some change on performance getting one or the others on a mild cam ? ( Crower282HDP )
