I was watching the movie "Dazed and confused" with my son last night and we noticed a black Superbird in the movie! I wondered if anyone else noticed it in the backround and who actually owned it? kinda cool. :yesnod:

I have the movie and have not seen the wing car :shruggy: The Duster gets and the Goat get the most air time.  In what seen is the Bird in?

Not sure I understand what you're saying; that you don't like wing cars because of their ties to NASCAR?  In any case, I noticed the 'Bird also, but IMO the cars that stole the show were Pickford's GTO and Wedding Planner's Chevelle SS...

The Superbird In Dazed & Confused is an original B5 440 6BBL Automatic car owned by a friend from the Austin, Texas area.  BTW SBBob, Ken has mentioned having met and spoken with you about the similarities of your car and his (other than the Hemi/wedge difference  )... I believe that it was in Las Vegas.

Here are a few pictures of Ken's Superbird in Dazed & Confused, and at a San Antonio Mopar Meet after being repainted B5 Blue...

BTW, Ken has joined the forum and generally lurks without posting... maybe this would be a good time for an intro... hope that's not throwing you under the bus my friend...

I don't care so much for Nascar because they stacked the deck against the wing cars. What this guy is saying is since GM could not compete they kicked out the winged cars. Did it to Ford as well. Don't know if any of it is true or not?

Oh I gotcha.  Yeah that's the way I see it too: the Mopars dominated the field and through the use of implemented rules and design limitations they found a way to legally ban the winged cars.  Now, we have cookie cutter racing!

thanks for the link.  I can't believe I missed it!  I will have to watch the flick again.  I have the sound track. I always listen to it in the 70 Challenger.

440Daughtery had a few things wrong. First, a 2.08 geared 8 3/4? Never. The pinion gear would be H U G E and never fit tin the case. The 2.76 was the tallest gear available in a stock housing. Next.."Most Superbirds came with a 3.55/3.45 gearing" 3.45? Ever hear of that? Maybe he meant 3.54, but in proper English, you'd put the lower number first, as in....3.54/3.55.
People that write in ALL CAPS start off at a disadvantage with me anyway. It tells me that they are either lazy or SHOUTING.

@41HUSK,  i love the soundtrack too! i copied my cd onto my ipod, i picked up a small docking station for when im riding in the Superbird, that music fits the cruise for sure. For some reason i just can't remove my original am radio out of the bird. :shruggy: As for the movie, the seen is at the burger joint with the black bird, also a couple of dumb things i noticed in the movie, the primer duster would have only been 3-4 years old at the most since the movie was supposed to be taking place in 1976.( i couldnt imagine spraying my 2010 Challenger in primer next year! :eek2: ) The Duster looked to be a 73-74 model. Another thing is did anyone notice the early 70's red Pontiac Firebird with 80's camaro rims on it?  What i did like that did not get any screen time driving was the "new" 76 Volare Road Runner in spit fire orange in the school parking lot scenes. I have always liked those F-body cars for some reason, i had a 318 maroon 79 Aspen R/T with gold stripes, rims, tuff wheel, and plaid interior! :eek2:
