69 Chrome trim to tail light attachment points

My tail lights are not cracked and look pretty darn good. Problem is that most of the plastic tabs that the chrome trim "snaps" into are busted and I figure a good bump going over the train tracks will most likely have it falling off. Passenger side is the worst.  Is this a common problem?  All of the ads for 69 tail lights I checked out (a good number of them) don't even address the status of these tabs. Thus I am wondering if my situation is different from the masses?

Anyone tried to repair these tabs?  Searches here only came up with buffing and polishing the lens or repop parts.

Thanks

Check out this website.  This guy did a good job documenting the restoration of his 69 Hemi Charger and he was generouse enough to put it all on a website.  It's a good book mark and I believe he addresses the issue by sealing the chrome to lens.

That's how mine were done, a little bit of flexible sealer. Instead of a bead like in the link just a bit was used around each post.

Yep, same here. I bought some 2 part clear epoxy and put a drop in each corner and a drop or two along the length. No problems.   :Twocents:

I also used an adhesive caulk called Polyseamseal. You can get it at the Depot. I just used a bit of clear about the lugs,
not the whole perimeter as it would pretty hard to get off..

Ok, so tried a bit of some exterior grade sealant I have from the housework and put it on the mount points and it seems to be holding well.

Thanks.

Mine seemed to have some clear silicon holding it onto the lens at the tab.
