Anyone got a pic of the left side hanger, the one at the back of the muffler just in front of the LR wheel? I think I'm missing something.

Fred

I haven't got a pic of it at the moment bull, but it's the mirror image of the right side.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

bull

Hmmm. :scratchchin: There's a bracket for the hanger on the right side but nothing on the left. There's a hole in the floor pan there so I' guessing that has something to do with it but this originally was single exhaust so it's probably part of some hillbilly modification.

Chatt69chgr

I was thinking that the hangers on both sides were identical.  Except, they didn't weld the 2nd hanger in on singel exhaust cars.  Mine only had one hanger.  I ordered the correct second one for my RT clone from somewhere-----don't recall where.

bull

Sorry about the thread title. I meant to say hanger brackets, not just hangers.

So was the factory single exhaust bracket welded on the passenger side?

charger490

the one for the drivers side has 4 bolt holes in it i have one here somewhere if i can find it don

Must be an R/T thing. Thanks. Well, I'll just wait for Tom to get back to me on Tuesday about the add-on bracket.

I saw that set but I don't understand the deal with the flat one. :shruggy:

the plate goes on the inside , it had the studds /threads attached to it ! the tiny phillips screw ,  is for / my guess , how the factory held the plate in place while going down the line , just incase one of the workers knocked in back inside , while fitting the bracket :yesnod:
all factory duel exhaust cars had this bracket  :yesnod:

this is for a E -body  , but the studds  are the same as a B-body ,   just shape of the plate  different

Apparently I'm a little slow today but I just don't see how a flat plate with no mounting holes gets me anywhere. :shruggy: I'm getting one of these: http://www.accurateltd.com/Floor-Pan-Bracket-Stainless_p_219.html

no your ok Bull   :2thumbs:
its prolly me not doing a good job of explaining  :slap:
in a nut shell all that plate does is allow one person to attach the exhaust froor pan bracket on the under side of the car ,
attaching with four nuts & bolts with  spring or lock washers &  big flat washers inside the car   , will do the same job , just a two man job to fit  :yesnod:

Ok, now I understand. I thought it was a set of two brackets for two sides instead of the flat one being the backing plate for the other. :2thumbs:

HeavyFuel

Looks like the pass side bracket studs were part of the body, every car got the exhaust on that side.  The interior plate with the studs was added to the drivers side for the additional bracket for dual exhaust cars.

bull

Thanks! Nice pics. Hopefully I can get some locating measurements from someone... :whistling:

Domino

Here's the one I made and plug welded in place.
I measured off to mirror the psgr bracket: frame rail for L and R (not the driveshaft tunnel) and used a straight edge spanning the frame to set the height to the bolt hole.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there some little alignment dents stamped in the pan? (kinda like the firewall clutch bracket...)

You would think there would be something there. Of course mine's all covered in undercoating...

Thanks for the pics. :2thumbs:
