This is sold as a DOH charger however it is molded in white and has to be painted orange & decals applied before it will be a DOH charger. I noticed the seats are hibacks from 1970. this link to to HobbyTalk a forum i belong to. here they are discussing the model that even has the engine cylinders molded in and the suspension needs to be built and heat formed. http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=363863

Bert
I forgot to mention it is at 1/16 scale

That was a link to a cutlass model.

There are two big 1/16 MPC kits re-released, the Dukes charger and the 72 street charger.

I had the original release, 25+ years ago... I'll have to look at it closely to see any changes in the new :scratchchin:

I have the re-released 1/16 General Lee but am not going to build it, just keeping it as a collectible piece. It is apparently based on the Petty kit and modified for the Dukes, on the box it looks more like a nascar model. I do have many of the original 1/25 Dukes MPC kits sealed in boxes.

I've thought about building the big 1/16 72' Street Charger for fun but it's a limited one run, supposedly never to be released again.

Here is a scan of an original magazine ad for the big 1/16 Dukes kit.

Those have been out for quite some time now, maybe a year and a half, maybe longer.  Our local hobby store has them for $25.00 last time I was in there. It was nice they re-released them.  The originals were getting expensive on E-Bay.

I built the original years ago and still have it as well as the 25 scale stuff. I think Cooters wrecker is my favorite.

There are NO changes, it's an unmodified repop. As to the 72 'street charger', apart from the body and some interior parts, it's the same kit. There's also a petty racing version expected (which is the reason the GL has a race car styled chassis.)

I picked up the 72 Street Charger,  it is also butchered to be non-factory-stock body like the GL kit. I have modified the wheel arches closer to a stock look

$75 is pretty good for an unopened original, did you build it? I think I paid between $50 - $75 for the unopened 1/25 kits about 10 years ago. Never did get the big one though.

:popcrn: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:   Are you kidding, there are two schools............ the common sense open/build/play with or the leave in a package............... :-\ :hah: I am a leave in the package guy.. never even pulled the wrapping to look at it, sits in my shop as "shop art"  Hobby Lobby had these large one off and on the last couple yrs.

Gonna say, it survived 20 years in the package when you bought it. Although I know of a few people who have bought "new" old rare items and it hasn't stopped them from opening them.

I must admit, I played with the knickerbocker speed jumper and barnbuster  :D  They were already opened though.
