We got to see an eclipse tonight here in Northern California.  Here's how it looked through the welding helmet.

We weren't in the "flight path" anyway. It mostly cut through the southwest and southern Oregon/northern California.

Awesome! I saw it once way back in 1994 I believe it was.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Regarding the welding helmet thing, can't you just look at an eclipse through a digital camera's view screen with bare eyes? I don't see how you could be blinded with all the filters and such.

LeesRT

I tried using my camera without the helmet at first, but didn't get the look I was looking for so I thought I'd try taking a picture through the helmet and it seemed to work pretty well.

My camera just burned out the picture........

I should have used my auto darkening helmet and adjusted the darkness down so it wasnt so dark. I instead used my old skool helmet and it was just dark. Heres the photos I got in Kansas of it. It never did center  up here in Kansas........

This is a camera only shot using the trees as a filter......

And then thru the helmet............

Straight camera.............sometimes the camera would do ok but most of the time it was just too bright. It wigged the digital screen out on every picture............

This was a lucky camera shot........

I think the helmet cam is the best..I like it

Bryan

I wish now I had used my auto darkening helmet because I can adjust the darkness down to I think 5.   I could have probably got better pictures using less filtering then just the straight helmet..............

I read the topic too fast and was wondering how bad your wedding was that you needed a helmet for it.  My bad, carry on, nothing to see here, these are not the droids you are looking for...
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
