Car started doing this thing where it would not turn the engine over. Power to lights and accesory fine,  just no starter. Thought it was the broken battery cable replaced that now its gotten worse. Its to the point where I can turn the car on, turn it immediately off and then try again and no power. My first thought is trans linkage rattle through all the gears won't help.

Process of elimination - make sure of your battery and main cables, check you have  good connections at the battery and earth point, also a good connection to the slave solenoid where the positive cable goes. Make sure car is in park or neutral then short the main battery stud of the slave solenoid to the pull in connector of the slave solenoid, if it starts, try a few times and if all OK then the fault will be on the primary circuit - key switch/wiring/trans switch etc. If it doesn't start check the two cables that run down to the starter and if all OK you have a starter motor problem or a seized or hydraulicked engine. Try that and report back.

Just had the same thing happen and it was the battery.  Measure between the two poles and see how much voltage you got.  I got 10.4 and thought it was enough until I got edumacated!  Now it cranks like it's nobody's business.

Once it runs and idles strong pull the negative off the battery and see if it continues to run.  If it does, turn on the lights and see if it still keeps running.  If it still does, then the alternator and charging system is okay, if it dies when you pull the lead (tried this a few times) your charging system is the problem.

If battery and alt check out fine, your starter may be cooked.  Got headers?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Possibly nuetral safety switch or connector is loose to it.
